Menand Reading Group

Several faculty and staff are planning to read and discuss the well-received book on higher education by scholar and essayist Louis Menand: The Marketplace of Ideas. The first twenty five books have been spoken for but CTL has ordered an additional ten.

Copies of Menand's The Marketplace of Ideas are available at the CTL desk. The stipulation: Taking a copy obligates you to attend at least two of four discussion sessions Doug Green will organize in the fall. For further information, contact Doug Green <green@augsburg.edu>. To get your copy, sign for it with Terry Martin at CTL <martin@augsburg.edu>.

Host a Welcome Dinner for New International Students on Sept. 3

As part of International Student Orientation, we are looking for Augsburg faculty and staff to host Welcome Dinners in their homes for new international students on Friday, September 3.

This is always a highlight of the orientation, and a great opportunity to provide hospitality to our new international students.

Hosts will usually have between 3-5 students, and are responsible for transporting them both ways. Students may be picked up between 5:00-5:30 p.m., and returned to Augsburg whenever dinner is finished, usually around 7:30 p.m.

If you're interested, please contact Jim Trelstad-Porter at porter@augsburg.edu or x.1686. Thanks!

Grades for SSII & SSIII

SSII and SSIII grades are due Thursday, 19 Aug.

SSII Online grades are due Friday, 27 Aug.

Grading information can be found through the following link:
http://www.augsburg.edu/enroll/registrar/faculty/index.html
click on Faculty Information, then click on Grade Entry Guidelines.

Timely grade submission is important to our students. Most of our WEC and Grad students are on company reimbursement and work under time lines for submitting their tuition claim (which requires a grade for the course). Many of our Day students are dependent on scholarships which require graded coursework for continuance or for application for new monies. Thank you for your efforts to support our students.
