Volunteer Mentor Opportunity

Would you like to have a positive influence on an adolescent (aged 16-18)? GAP is looking for mentors (must be 21 or older). The following is information about the program.

The YouthBuild Mentoring Program at Guadalupe Alternative Programs (GAP) helps to empower youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. The mentoring program uses adult volunteers to commit to supporting, guiding, and being a friend to a young person for a period of at least one year. By becoming part of the social network of adults and community members who care about the youth, the mentor can help youth develop and reach positive academic, career, and personal goals.

GAP is a community-based, education and social service agency that serves the Twin Cities area. The mission of GAP is to serve communities challenged by transition and poverty through education and enrichment opportunities, social and emotional support and training that lead to employment. This mission is manifested in programs such as a high school, GED preparation, job training, career readiness and job search resources, and youth and family services. GAP’s focus is on getting students a diploma or GED and other certifications while they simultaneously learn useful skills and gain experience.
