Host a Welcome Dinner for New Int'l Students Sept. 3

As part of International Student Orientation, we are looking for Augsburg faculty and staff to host Welcome Dinners in their homes for new international students on Friday, September 3. We are still in need of 5 more hosts.

This is always a highlight of the orientation, and a great opportunity to provide hospitality to our new international students.

Hosts will usually have between 3-5 students, and are responsible for transporting them both ways. Students may be picked up between 5:00-5:30 p.m., and returned to Augsburg whenever dinner is finished, usually around 7:30 p.m.

If you're interested, please contact Jim Trelstad-Porter at porter@augsburg.edu or x.1686. Thanks!

What Do You Love About Our Neighborhoods?

I was inspired by a colleague's enthusiasm for exploring the city and our neighborhoods to write a story for Inside Augsburg specifically for those who are new to the Augsburg community and maybe also to our city.

So, if a new Augsburg student, faculty or staff member, or parent asked you what to do or where to go in our city, what would you recommend? Think restaurants, theatres, parks, etc... For example, I would say: "You have to go to the Longfellow Grill to try the turkey burger and sweet potato fries. Totally worth the calories!" Or, "You should take your bike on the trails along the river and lakes. You can ride all the way to the west suburbs!"

What are your recommendations? Email them to wheelerw@augsburg.edu. Thanks!
