Chrislock History Lecture, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Marshall Room

Please join the Augsburg History Society in celebrating the legacy of Augsburg history professor Carl H. Chrislock as we welcome historian Paul Maccabee as this year's Carl H. Chrislock Memorial History Lecturer.

Maccabee will speak on "Gun Molls, Gangsters, and G-Men: Probing the Secret Criminal History of Minnesota's Public Enemies" at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11 in the Marshall Room. Crime historian Maccabee spent 13 years fighting the FBI to obtain more than 100,000 Justice Department files on the notorious Public Enemies era of St. Paul--resulting in the publication of his book, John Dillinger Slept Here: A Crooks' Tour of Crime and Corruption in St. Paul, 1920-1936 (St Paul: Minnesota Historical Society Press, 1995).

English Majors

Senior English Majors:

Are you interested in reading something you have written while here at Augsburg? This is Sam and Amanda, your student representatives of the English Department. As fellow seniors we are hoping you could provide your ideas to the prospect of having an "open book reading" this spring. The English professors are working with us on creating an event where we could share our writings with family, faculty and friends. It is vital for you to share your thoughts on what the night should be. WE get to create it for US! Please reply to either one of us.

The reading would be followed with a reception, including dessert and thoughtful conversation with friends, family and faculty. If you have any other recommendations or questions, feel free to contact us or any of the professors in the English department. The event is being created for us! Thank you for your help!

Tech Desk Tip of the Week for Students

Did you know you can select multiple items at one time on your computer? Just hold the control key (or the command / apple key on a Mac) on the keyboard when you are selecting items with your mouse. For example, in iTunes when creating a playlist, you can add multiple songs at once. If you have multiple items selected and you accidentally select one you don't want, you can un-select an item by clicking on the already selected item while still holding the control key (or command / apple key on a Mac).

Shoes For A Good Cause - All This Week

Your Old Shoes Will Help, Please Donate

Shoe Collection

My name is Sarah Tellin and this semester I have an internship at La Conexion. This is a non profit organization that serves the needs of Latinos here in Minneapolis. Part of my work is to help with the shoe recycling campaign that finds donors to collect shoes. The shoes that are collected are recycled to make new products, such as: potting soil, absorbent spill socks, and t-shirts. For every pound of shoe that is recycled, La Conexion receives .12 cents. We are asking for help from this activity to make it both successful and profitable for La Conexion. If you have any of the following used shoes please bring them in!

Men's and women's dress shoes.
Children's footwear of all kinds.
Sandals and slippers.
Tennis and other athletic shoes.
Boots of all kinds plus overshoes
crocs, flip-flops, etc

There will be two large bins, one located in front of the Admissions Office and the other in the Athletic Office! Thank you greatly for you help and support! Please feel free to email me with any questions.
