Message: The facilities department will be scheduling a document destruction company to come to campus the beginning of November to shred confidential documents. If you have need of this service, please gather, box and mark the boxes that you want shredded. Facilities will arrange for the documents to be picked up at your office/storage location on or before the date that the shredding company will be on campus. Please contact Terri Adams by email at adamsth@augsburg.edu or phone at extension 1566 to make these arrangements.

Subject: Interesting Stuff about Students with Disabilities

Submitter:
Regina Hopingardner, Administrative Assistant, CLASS Program

Message: October is Disability Awareness month and to mark this the CLASS office is hosting a general information session for faculty and staff on Friday the 13th from 3-4 in the Marshall Room.

CLASS Specialists will start the afternoon with an overview of the impact that certain disabilities (such as ADHD, learning disabilities, and Asperger's syndrome) can have on students, talk about the rationale for academic accommodations, and then open things up for questions and discussion.

Call Regina at x1053 if you have any questions.

If you can't make it next Friday, CLASS and Access will also be hosting an open house in the Groves Lab (Foss 17A) on Monday, Oct. 30 from 3-5.

More information about disability services can be found at: http://www.augsburg.edu/classprogram/faculty.html

Message: Are alcohol and other drugs and violence prevention important issues to you? Tired of hearing about alcohol and drug problems on campus? Join us and do something about it!

Augsburg College Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Committee is looking for energetic students, faculty and staff to sit on our planning committee. We will meet monthly to work proactively with the campus community to promote a healthy environment and address alcohol and other drug issues that concern Augsburg students. We want to raise AOD abuse prevention on the campus agenda and strengthen our existing programs. If you are interested in this committee, please come to our first meeting, Monday, October 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Riverside Room. Please RSVP to colburn@augsburg.edu or call Juneal Colburn-Lay at 612-330-1237. If you cannot attend the first meeting but are interested in the committee, please call Juneal and leave a message about your interest.
