Subject: Scholarship Brunch

Submitter:
Carly Eichhorst, Financial Aid Counselor, Enrollment Center

Message: Do you remember when you received your first financial aid award letter your senior year of high school? At that point, you realized that your dream of attending Augsburg could really happen. Scholarships and grants make up a large portion of the aid at Augsburg. Individual donors help make your dreams a reality by donating money to fund scholarships. Save the date for the annual Scholarship Brunch on Sunday, November 12. This is your opportunity to enjoy some good food and engage with the generous donors who make Augsburg College a reality for so many students! Invitations to follow!

Subject: Anagram puzzle winner is Wendi Wheeler

Submitter:
Kerry Morgan, Coordinator of Galleries and Exhibits, Art

Message: Wendi Wheeler was the first person to email me with the correct answer to the anagram "I Turn Black Keys." For the correct guess of "Stanley Kubrick" she has been awarded (and hopefully consumed by this point) a Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate bar.

David Warch came up with the Anagram as a title for the public sculpture by Sam Spiczka sitting outside of Lindell Library. Spiczka, the sculptor, titled the piece "Kubrick", as it was inspired by Kubrick's films, particularly "2001: A Space Odyssey."

Kudos to two others on campus who emailed me correct answers: Erin Voss and Natalie Wright.

Thanks for participating!

Thursday, October 26 -- 9 - 11 a.m. (Century Room)
Tuesday, October 31 -- 9 - 11 a.m. (Minneapolis Room)

We look forward to seeing you there!

Message: Augsburg’s A-List
Where to go from here….

Cultural events just a stone’s throw away from Augsburg College and often free-of-charge. These suggestions come to you from Kerry Morgan (Galleries Coordinator) and Mary Laurel True (Center for Service, Work, and Learning).

ART:
PATTERN LANGUAGE: Clothing as Communicator

Pattern Language investigates clothing as expression and in terms of fulfillment of human needs—needs of the body, mind and soul—right here and now. Highlighted artists go beyond the everyday utility of clothing, and instead use fashion, fabric, and the body to invent new forms of communication and interaction. Taken as a whole, the collection offers an unusual critique of standard notions of style, cultural norms, and personal expression.
