Subject: Academic Quality Improvement Program Update

Submitter:
Barbara Edwards Farley, Academic Dean, Academic and Student Affairs

Message: Augsburg elected to join the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) in 2001. AQIP is an alternative process through which Augsburg can maintain its accredited status with the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. AQIP's seven-year continuous improvement cycle replaces the comprehensive self-study and site visit that occurred every ten years.

An AQIP Public Folder has been placed in the "Committees" folder located in "Orgs Home." You will find the following documents:
1) AQIP Criteria, 2) AQIP Fact Sheet, 3) Systems Portfolio (submitted May 15, 2005 ö also posted on President's webpage),
4) Systems Portfolio Index, and 5) Systems Appraisal Feedback Report.

We are planning to develop an AQIP webpage this summer that will archive the College's AQIP projects.

The College will complete its first seven-year cycle of participation in AQIP in 2007-2008. The next major milestones include attending a Strategy Forum in Chicago (May, 2006), hosting a Site Visit (most likely Spring, 2007), and submitting an application for Reaffirmation of Accreditation (2007-2008).

The Systems Appraisal Feedback Report is AQIP's response to Augsburg's Systems Portfolio. The Systems Appraisal Team concluded that "Augsburg College has presented evidence that it complies with each of the Five Criteria for Accreditation and each of their Core Components." This is very good news for the College and reflects the important accomplishments of Augsburg's faculty, staff, and students!

Special thanks to the members of the AQIP Steering Committee for their oversight of Augsburg's AQIP initiatives.

Submitter:
Michele R Kidwell, Enrollment Assistant, Enrollment Management

Message:
My apologies to both Christi Schmidt, Tour Guide Coordinator, and Grant Hemmingsen, Tour Guide. In my previous thanks I inadvertently listed them as Christi Grant, but they are, in fact, two different individuals!!! Also, my thanks to Mary True from the Center for Service, Work, and Learning, for her participation on a luncheon panel during one of the Get Ready visits. Thanks again to all who helped make these visits successful!
Michele

Subject: Marketing Moves

Submitter:
Julie Olson, Dean of Enrollment Management, and Tracy Elftmann, Vice President for Advancement

Message: At the All-Hands meeting several weeks ago, President-elect Paul Pribbenow highlighted as a priority initiative defining and refreshing the Augsburg brand and story. To better align this strategy with other key college initiatives, the Department of Marketing and Communications will be moving to the Division of Institutional Advancement effective June 1, 2006. We anticipate a seamless, smooth transition and look forward to continuing our cross-campus collaborative efforts to market Augsburg College in innovative and creative ways.
