Subject: Student Transit Pass Program Fall '06

Submitter:
Thomas S Ruffaner, Day Custodial Supervisor, Custodial Services

Message: As announced by President Frame at the Earth Day Mini-convocation on April 21st, Augsburg will implement a generously discounted Transit Pass pilot program for all students who live on campus and do not have a car and for all other students who choose to commute to the College via public transit on a daily basis. The purpose of this pilot project is to more accurately determine current commute patters and to encourage those who can use public transit to do so on a regular basis. More transit users results in less demand for parking spaces for those who cannot use transit. If this program is successful it could help prevent (or delay) the building of a parking garage that would result in a dramatic increase in parking fees for everyone. Those students who apply for the super discounted pass will have to abide by the rules that will include no personal vehicle on campus. More details will be announced during the summer and early September.

Subject: Final Invitation for Lilly Retreat

Message: The theme for this spring's Lilly retreat is "finding our way home again". We will use spring themes to examine how we can connect who we are with what we do. All activities are invitational and personal time is scheduled into the retreat.

The retreat will be held at the Mount Olivet Retreat Center located twenty-five minutes south of the Twin Cities. The opening session will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10th, and we will depart after Lunch on May 11th. You are encouraged to stay overnight. May is a wonderful time to reflect on the past year and to plant seeds for the future.
