Expanded Summer Course Offerings

This summer, Augsburg is offering a broader selection of summer courses for day students. Plan now to take advantage--summer courses can help you get ahead (or catch up) to ensure you finish you degree in four years, which saves time and money. Both core curriculum classes and classes in particular majors will be available, and many will be offered as online courses you can take from home.

You can register at the same time as your window for fall course registration. The first windows for day students begin April 4.

Learn more at augsburg.edu/registrar/summer.

Reading the Echo in Arizona: Archives Online

Brown-bag Presentation
Wednesday 30 March 2016
Noon to 1 p.m.
Riverside Room, Christensen Center

Lindell Library holds many treasures of Augsburg's shared history: The Echo student newspaper, back to 1898; the Augsburgian yearbook, starting in 1916; and Augsburg Now and its alumni-publication ancestors. All these and more are part of the Archives' physical collection. But what if you want to go beyond paper and page through, say, the 1983 Augsburgian -- in your office, at home, or on vacation? Thanks to the library's Digital Initiative Project, begun by librarian Bill Wittenbreer in 2013, you can read many of your favorite Augsburg publications online anywhere, and more are being added all the time. Want to know more? Of course you do! Faculty and staff (and the wider Augsburg community) are invited to Bill's informative session on exploring our new Archives Web page, http://library.augsburg.edu/archives/ , and all the ways you can access our digital collections. Bring your lunch, and your curiosity!

Student Employment Information Summer 2016

Dear Colleagues:

The end of the academic year is fast approaching. The last day of the academic year for student employment is April 29! The summer employment begins May 1, 2016.

NOTE: If you know you will have students working on Saturday, April 30, please contact HR to make sure each student's employment record is adjusted accordingly.

If you are planning on having students working over the summer, please be sure to review the information below regarding student positions for summer employment in 2016.

Summer student rates will be as follows:
Student Rate: $9.50
Student Supervisory Rate: $10.50

Steps to follow when hiring a student worker for summer 2016
1. Students returning into a position they held previously will only need a Student Employment Hire Form submitted through Hirezon/Interview Exchange.

2. Looking for a student worker to hire? Any new position will need to be posted through Human Resources to the internal student jobs board. Student Requisitions can be submitted though Hirezon/Interview Exchange. Once it's submitted, we will post the position online. Hiring managers will be able to view applications in real time through the system.

3. When you've selected a student to hire, complete the Student Employment Hire Form through Hirezon/Interview Exchange. Students who have never worked on campus before will need to fill out additional HR forms, including a background check, before they will be authorized to work.

Instructions for navigating Hirezon/Interview Exchange can be found on HR Moodle. Questions? Email HR at hr@augsburg.edu or 612-330-1058.
