Important Campus Box Information for Students

For those of you who are returning day undergraduate students, please read this important information about your campus box:

Due to the large amount of research done each day to identify mail that does not arrive with a campus box number, Central Services will be reassigning ALL campus boxes by alphabetical order. We ask that all students who are currently on campus to please pick up their mail out of their old box as soon as possible.

You will receive an email to your Augsburg email address with your new campus box number by August 30, 2013, however new campus boxes will not take effect until September 2, 2013.

Just a reminder, if you live on campus, your dormitory name and room number is not a part of your college address, the address for all student mail is:

Your Name
731 21st Ave S CB#____
Minneapolis, MN 55454-1398

Students with physical disabilities, who need a mailbox to meet their convenience, please contact the mailroom at 612-330-1119 and we will work with you to get a new box assigned.

If you have any questions, please contact the mailroom at 612-330-1119 or mailship@augsburg.edu.

Thank you for you cooperation.

New Mailroom Hours

Beginning September 3, 2013 Central Services will be shortening the Mailroom hours to open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All student mailboxes are accessible from the outside as well as the majority of faculty and staff mailboxes. Faculty and staff mailboxes that are not accessible from the outside will be delivered as noted or will need to be picked up during the new hours of operation. If you need access to your non accessible mailbox, you may do so by stopping by Shipping and Receiving on the lower level of Christensen and someone may assist you.

Thank you for your time and cooperation during this transition. If you have any questions, please direct them to the mailroom staff at x1119.

WEC Connection Centers, Sept. 6-7

To: Weekend College Professors
From: Karl G. Wolfe, Interim Director, Augsburg for Adults
Re: "Welcome Back" Connection Center
Date: Aug. 26, 2013

Good morning:

The first weekend for WEC is in less than 2 weeks. I am writing to you who will be teaching classes on Friday evening (Sept. 6) and Saturday morning or afternoon (Sept. 7) to ask for your help in making this opening weekend a special one.

Over the last few years, Augsburg for Adults has hosted a "welcome back" lunch on Saturday of the first WEC weekend. The problem is that it fails to touch those who have a class on Friday evening, those whose class on Saturday morning may end a bit early, or those who arrive just before class on Saturday afternoon. In other words, despite large efforts, the event has not brought most WEC students together.

On September 6-7 we are going to try something different. Rather than one luncheon, we are going to host what I'm calling "Connection Centers" to bring together students and faculty during the Friday evening and Saturday morning/afternoon break times. At the Connection Centers, set up in Oren Gateway, adjacent to Nabo, and Christensen, next to Einstein's, we will serve:

-- Friday evening, 7:45-8:15 p.m.: Make your own strawberry shortcake bar, coffee, lemonade and water.

-- Saturday morning, 9:45-10:15 a.m.: Bagels, muffins, etc.; along with coffee, tea, water, etc.

-- Saturday afternoon, 2:45-3:15 p.m.: Make your own strawberry shortcake bar, coffee, lemonade and water.

I am asking you to help make this a great event! Please assist this effort by . . .

•Breaking at the designated time

•Encouraging your students to be sure to drop by (there is NO COST to them)

•Making a point of coming yourself to schmooze with students and enjoy the treats (there is NO COST to you)

My hope is that, by contacting you now, you will have a "head's up" that truly will allow these Connection Centers to bring the Augsburg for Adults community together. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Karl
