1 - Buildings will be unlocked each weekday morning at their normal time. Buildings will remain closed on holidays (12/23, 12/24,12/25,12/31 and 1/1) and weekends UNLESS there is a scheduled activity or office that needs the building open.

2 - Buildings will close no later than 5 p.m. UNLESS there is a scheduled activity or office that needs the building to remain open. Officers will be making regular rounds through buildings. On Dec 27 to 30, the officers will close a building if, during their rounds, they find it empty. If you leave for the day and believe your building will be empty, please call x1717 and let us know.

3 - Conference rooms, classrooms and labs will remain locked UNLESS there is a scheduled activity or office that needs the space.

4 - If the space you need is locked, and you have a legitimate reason to be in there, please call x1717 and an officer will do their best to assist you. Please have photo ID and show it to the officer. Some officers will be working different shifts over the break and may not have had the opportunity to meet you.

5 - Whenever possible, don't work alone. Ideally, there should always be two or more people in your area. If you are working alone, I encourage you to call x1717 and let us know. We will have officers walk by your area more frequently.

Powerful Conversations on NSSE

December 16, 2010, 12:00-1:25pm, OGC 111
Active and Collaborative Learning (Velma Lashbrook)

Augsburg College uses the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) to learn more about how our students perceive their college experience. Student engagement is strongly related to both student success and retention. This series of conversations is designed to help faculty and staff understand how well we engage students, explore how we can leverage our strengths to have a more significant impact, and examine our most important opportunities for improvement. Over the year, we will look at overall results and then look more closely at each of the five factors measured by NSSE. Every academic department should have a representative attend these sessions.

Light refreshments will be served.

2 Auggies named All-Region in Football

http://athletics.augsburg.edu/news/2010/12/9/fb120910.aspx?path=football

MINNEAPOLIS -- Augsburg College wide receiver Muneer Al-Hameed (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Minneapolis Washburn HS) and tight end Josh Pronschinske (SR, Fountain City, Wis./Cochrane-Fountain City HS) were named to the D3football.com All-West Region teams, it was announced on Thursday.

Al-Hameed was named to the first team, while Pronschinske was named to the second team. Pronschinske earned All-West Region honors for the second straight year, after earning third-team honors last year. Both earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first-team honors earlier this month.

As a wide receiver, Al-Hameed led the MIAC in receptions per-game (7.00), with 70 catches for 832 yards (third-best in the MIAC in overall statistics) and five touchdowns this season. In his 39-game career, Al-Hameed finished with 258 receptions for 3,089 yards and 18 touchdowns -- the reception total the second-most in school history, the yardage total third-best and the touchdown total sixth-best.

Al-Hameed proved his versatility this season, as he transitioned from wide receiver to quarterback for the final three games of the season after starter Marcus Brumm (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) was lost for the year due to injury. As a quarterback, Al-Hameed completed 17-of-34 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns in three starts.

Pronschinske led the conference's tight ends in receiving for the second straight year, with 43 catches for 463 yards and four touchdowns. His 4.78 receptions per-game ranked eighth-best in the league in overall statistics, while his 51.4 receiving yards per-game ranked 10th-best.

In his 26-game career, Pronschinske finished with 85 catches for 911 yards and six touchdowns.

The 75-member All-West Region teams were selected from a pool of 185 nominations in balloting by West Region sports information directors and the staff of D3football.com, a national website that covers NCAA Division III football.

Augsburg has had at least one member named to the All-West Region team every year since the squad was first named in 2005 by D3football.com, and has had 11 all-region honorees in the award's history.

4 Auggies named All-Region in Men's Soccer

http://athletics.augsburg.edu/news/2010/12/8/msoc120810.aspx?path=msoc

MINNEAPOLIS -- Four Augsburg College men's soccer players were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Performance Subaru Division III All-North Region teams, it was announced on Wednesday.

Defender/forward Chad Gilmer (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) and forward Ben Wexler (SR, Minnetonka, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret HS) were named to the first team, while defender Peter Loyd (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) and midfielder T.J. Haag (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Burnsville HS) were named to the third team. Augsburg had the most individuals named to the three 11-player teams of any Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference school.

The quartet was part of one of the top squads in Augsburg men's soccer history. Under seventh-year head coach Greg Holker, Augsburg finished the 2010 season with a school-record 16 victories (16-5-1) and the MIAC's postseason playoff championship. Augsburg qualified for the NCAA Division III national playoffs for the second time in the last three years, and finished with a double-digit win record for the fourth time in the last five years.

The MIAC Player of the Year and an All-MIAC first-team honoree in 2010, Gilmer developed a reputation as one of the most versatile players in the region. He started the season as a forward, but played multiple positions on the field throughout the year, starting at defender in the latter portion of the Auggies' season.

A dangerous player on set pieces, Gilmer finished with a team-best eight goals and 21 points (with five assists), including four game-winning goals. He saw action in 1,696 of Augsburg's 2,040 team minutes (83.1 percent) this season, the second-most minutes played of any Auggie.

His eight goals tied him for fourth among all conference players in overall statistics, and his 21 points were tied for fifth-best in the league. In conference games-only, his four goals and 10 points both ranked ninth-best among league players. An All-MIAC honorable-mention recipient last season, Gilmer has nine goals and five assists for 23 points in 36 career games (all starts).

Wexler transferred to Augsburg after playing his first three seasons at Division I Providence (R.I.), and his addition paid immediate dividends for the Auggies. He earned All-MIAC first-team honors this season.

Wexler finished this season with six goals and one assists for 13 points in 19 games (17 starts), the second-most goals of any Auggie, including four game-winning goals. His six goals ranked eighth among MIAC players in overall statistics.

An All-MIAC first-team honoree in both 2009 and 2010, Loyd was an anchor of the one of the strongest defenses in the conference. In overall play, the Auggies ranked third defensively in the MIAC, allowing a 0.79 team goals-against-average (18 goals in 22 games), while recording an MIAC-high 13 shutouts. Augsburg allowed just nine goals in 10 conference games, a 0.87 team GAA that ranked third-best in the conference, with five shutouts.

Loyd saw action in a team-high 1,806 minutes of action -- on the field 88.5 percent of the team's total minutes this season, with three goals to his credit. In his three seasons at Augsburg (59 games, 58 starts), he has six goals and one assists for 13 points.

Haag developed a reputation as a solid midfielder, seeing action in 20 games (13 starts) and 1,082 minutes this season. In two seasons after transferring from Dakota County Technical College, Haag had one assist in 29 Auggie games (20 starts). This past summer, he also played for the Rochester Thunder, a United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League team.
