Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

PARKING RESTRCTION: No Parking on Even Sides

WINTER PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT FOR THE CITY OF MINNEAPOLIS BEGINNING FRIDAY DEC 17th at 8 AM

High snow accumulations can narrow streets, making them harder for fire trucks, ambulances and other emergency vehicles to navigate. When that happens, Winter Parking restrictions are enacted. These restrictions prohibit parking on the even numbered side of streets designated as non-Snow Emergency Routes until April 1, or until conditions warrant a lifting of the ban.

Please visit: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/snow/ for more information and for the "street look-up" maps to assist you with identifying odd/even sides of street in your area.

People parking in Minneapolis must follow these parking restrictions, or they could be ticketed and towed:
Friday, Dec. 17th- Winter Parking Restrictions begin
Beginning at 8 a.m., parking is prohibited on the EVEN side of non-Snow-Emergency-routes. Parking is allowed on Snow Emergency routes, parkways and the ODD side of non-Snow Emergency-routes.

The Augsburg Public Safety website will have a map of our campus with highlighted “no parking” areas. Please visit www.augsburg.edu/dps to view the map. It should be updated shortly. There are also signs posted at some of the main entrances of the college. If you are inviting visitors to campus, please make sure they are aware of the restriction. Visitor permits can be requested from Public Safety. http://www.augsburg.edu/dps/visitor_parking.html

Augsburg College Parking permits are available for purchase through Parking Services on Augnet. For questions on purchasing a permit, please contact parking@augsburg.edu

Building Hours - Dec. 17 to Jan. 2

Note: The Library and Athletic Facilities have published operating schedules. Those facilities will open and close according to their published schedules.

1 - Buildings will be unlocked each weekday morning at their normal time. Buildings will remain closed on holidays (12/23, 12/24,12/25,12/31 and 1/1) and weekends UNLESS there is a scheduled activity or office that needs the building open.

2 - Buildings will close no later than 5 p.m. UNLESS there is a scheduled activity or office that needs the building to remain open. Officers will be making regular rounds through buildings. On Dec 27 to 30, the officers will close a building if, during their rounds, they find it empty. If you leave for the day and believe your building will be empty, please call x1717 and let us know.

3 - Conference rooms, classrooms and labs will remain locked UNLESS there is a scheduled activity or office that needs the space.

4 - If the space you need is locked, and you have a legitimate reason to be in there, please call x1717 and an officer will do their best to assist you. Please have photo ID and show it to the officer. Some officers will be working different shifts over the break and may not have had the opportunity to meet you.

5 - Whenever possible, don't work alone. Ideally, there should always be two or more people in your area. If you are working alone, I encourage you to call x1717 and let us know. We will have officers walk by your area more frequently.

6 - If you see anything suspicious, please call x1717 immediately!

Car Seats Needed for Neighborhood Program

Car Seats Needed!
Do you have a car seat left from an infant or a child who is now grown? The East African Women's Center (just a few blocks down the street) is in need of car seats and infant carriers for a new program serving newly arrived refugee women and children. Women who live in South Minneapolis will come to the center (picked up in a van) with their children together: mothers in English and Orientation Class, children in Early Childhood classes. If you have a car seat to donate, or questions about the program, please contact Joanna Flaten (Augsburg alum): (509) 430-9120, jflaten001@luthersem.edu. Thank-you!
