Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Crime Alert: Robbery at 20th and 6th St

On Wednesday, March 25th, 2009, at approximately 9 p.m., a man was robbed at the corner of 20th and 6th St. South. The man, a 31 year old U of MN Graduate Student, was punched by one of three young adult males. The young men then took his backpack, which contained his laptop, and fled. The backpack, minus the laptop, was found later that evening at Riverside Plaza.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Minneapolis Police Department or Augsburg’s Department of Public Safety. You can reach Augsburg’s Public Safety Department all day, every day by calling 1717 from an on-campus phone or 612-330-1717 from an off-campus phone.

You can help prevent crime!

• Where possible, walk in groups. Groups of people are significantly less likely to be harassed of victimized.

• Call for an escort! Escorts are available all day, every day.

• Stand-up straight, walk with purpose and be aware of your surroundings. Criminals generally look for an easy target, someone they can sneak up on without being seen.

• When possible, leave your valuables at home.

• Back-up your data! Your files can easily be backed-up to your network folder or a USB drive. Don’t risk losing your notes, research and other work. If you have any questions about the best way to back-up your data, talk to your LFC or to Student Computing.

• Immediately report suspicious activity to the Department of Public Safety at x1717.

Show Off Your Writing Talents

Senior English Majors:

Are you interested in reading something you have written while here at Augsburg? The English Department will be having an "open book reading" this spring. The English professors are working with us on creating an event where we could share our writings with family, faculty and friends.

The reading will take place April 17 and will be followed with a reception, including dessert and thoughtful conversation with friends, family and faculty. If you have any other recommendations or questions, feel free to contact us or any of the professors in the English department.

Please reply to one of us or your English professor if you would like to read some of your work as soon as possible so we can organize the event.

Everyone Deserves a Lifetime

Please support me in solidarity with Jessica Nathanson, Kristin Anderson, and many other Auggies, as I walk in the Breast Cancer 3-Day. On the weekend of August 21-23, thousands of women and men will unite and walk 60 miles through the Twin Cities. The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a weekend of hope, as we honor lives lost, celebrate survivors, promote breast cancer research and help bring breast cancer care to those who so desperately need it.

The support that the Augsburg campus has shown thus far has been outstanding! Together, we have raised $1055 and counting! I have a goal of $3300 to reach before August! I NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

Net proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Day benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs, as well as the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, which provides an endowment for breast cancer initiatives.

Please read my story and consider donating at: http://www.the3day.org/goto/emilyrandall
