General Announcements

Composting, More than Just a Pile of Garbage

On September 22, Augsburg Dining, in a joint effort with Augsburg College, began composting upstairs in the commons. All of the food that is left over from our customers will be placed into special containers located adjacent to the trash receptacles. There will be posters up to help in the instruction of what is to go where. Over time, this effort will expand to the other retail food locations and then campus wide. The Augsburg community will be happy to know that the end product of this composting will return the the Augsburg community garden. So please look before you throw away that half eaten sandwich and see if it can't further our environmental awareness and give back to us all.

Recovery Month Tidbits

“When all else fails, turn it over”

Your job isn’t working out, a family member is in trouble, you are depressed and don’t know what to do. You talk to your boss, you encourage the family member to get counseling, you take a long walk and go over your options with a friend. When these remedies don’t solve the problems, and when you’ve tried all the other possibilities you can think of and they don’t work either, what do you do?

In Step Three we “made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.” We don’t merely take this Step once and then forget about it. We keep taking Step Three over and over again, especially when we encounter difficulties that have no readily apparent solution.

If something is troubling you today, you don’t want to eat too much or too little, because you know neither will help. Why not give the program a chance to work for you? Why not use the support of a Higher Power? That support is always available- now. You can count on it.

Right now, I turn over what I cannot manage to my Higher Power.
