Security and Facilities Announcements

Document Shredding

In preparation for the upcoming school year, many departments are cleaning out old files. Any documents that are non-confidential can be placed in recycling containers located in hallways of each building. However, many of you may have documents that are confidential and need to be shredded.

The Facilities Department is scheduling a document shredding company to be on campus mid-August. If you have any confidential materials that you wish to be shredded at that time, please box them up and mark the boxes "to be shredded". Then, send an email to adamsth@augsburg.edu by Friday, August 10, and arrangements will be made for the Facilities staff to pick up these boxes from your office.

If you have any questions, please email Terri Adams at adamsth@augsburg.edu or call x1566.

MINNEAPOLIS (7/15/08) -- The Augsburg College women's basketball team finished 18th nationally on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Division III Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll with a team grade-point average of 3.405, it was announced on Monday.

The Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll designation is the first for Augsburg's women's basketball program in the 11 years the WBCA has given the academic honor. The Top 25 awards teams throughout the nation that carry the highest grade point averages for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches. The team GPA is determined by the total number of quality points divided by the total number of hours attempted by the team. Grades must be converted to a 4.000 grade point scale and only semester hours or quarter hours can be accepted.

Augsburg was one of four Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools to receive the WBCA academic award; St. Benedict was fifth in the rankings with a 3.488 team GPA, Hamline was 11th with a 3.441 team GPA and Gustavus Adolphus was 25th with a 3.375 team GPA. Nineteen of the 25 Division III programs honored had team GPAs of 3.400 or higher, with Concordia-Wisconsin leading the way with a 3.637 team GPA.

Under fourth-year head coach Jennifer Britz, Augsburg finished 7-18 overall, 5-17 in MIAC play in the 2007-08 season. Augsburg reached the seven-win mark for the second time in the last three seasons. Augsburg opened the season with a 4-2 mark, its best start to a season since the 1984-85 campaign. Four Auggie women's basketball players earned Academic All-MIAC honors with cumulative GPAs above 3.50 -- Noreen Hogan (SR, Moline, Ill./Alleman HS), Megan Krumrie (SR, Elk Mound, Wis.), Katie LaGrave (SR, Okinawa, Japan/Kadena HS) and Kristina Lurken (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS).
