Summer School Tutoring

Tutoring is a bit sparser over the summer school sessions. There are a limited number of tutors available for certain classes. What does this mean for you?

FACULTY: If there is a tutor available to work with students in your class, you should have received an email with his/her contact information. Please give this information to students who need tutoring assistance. If you didn't get the name of a tutor and know of a tutor who is available, email Ross Murray at murray@augsburg.edu.

STUDENTS: If you need tutoring assistance, please ask your professor what help is available for the summer. You may get help directly from your professor, or you might get contact information for a tutor.

The Tutoring Center and the Academic Skills Office is open limited hours over the summer. If you need immediate assistance, contact Benjy Kent at 612-330-1366.

Piano Purchase Opportunity - Great Deals

Augsburg has had the great benefit of using new Yamaha pianos through the educational loan program created by the Yamaha Corporation of America and implemented locally by Music Connection. This program involves a periodic renewal of the pianos, and now these fine instruments are available for purchase by our associates and the public.

All pianos used in this program will be on sale to faculty, alumni, students, and friends of Augsburg at prices significantly lower than market value. In addition to these, a wide selection of new Yamaha Acoustic, Digital, and Yamaha Disklavier Pianos will also be available. All of the loan program pianos and new pianos are covered by the Yamaha 10 Year Factory Warranty Bond. You will also have an opportunity to examine fine quality, previously owned instruments from Yamaha, and others. Attractive financing and delivery are available on all instruments. Cash, checks and all major credit cards will also be accepted.

There are two ways to view and purchase the selected pianos at Music Connection's Piano Showroom, 3525 W. 70th St., Edina, in the Brandon Square Center. You may attend the public sale on Sunday June 8th , or to better assist you (and help avoid the crowds), a private appointment can be arranged for Friday June 6th , or Saturday June 7th , by calling the toll-free appointment number 1-866-920-5397. This is highly recommended for best selection and value. The hours are as follows:

Friday, June 6, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. By Appointment
Saturday, June 7, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. By Appointment
Sunday, June 8, Noon - 5 p.m. Open to the Public

This special program offers a significant benefit for Augsburg College and you. We ask you to view and consider the purchase of one of these fine pianos, which will assist in perpetuating this program.

Submit to the SOAR Welcome Folder

Greetings,

The Department of Campus Activities and Orientation is asking campus departments and offices to provide information about their services to us to put in Welcome Folders that will be given to incoming first-year students at SOAR, held between July 15-19.

Information should fit on a standard letter-sized piece of paper and should be presented in an attractive layout (please remember that students are unlikely to read documents that are just a lot of words on a colored piece of paper). Please keep in mind that students will be receiving a great deal of information during their time here, so keeping your document succinct will be a service to them, and making it stand out will be of greater service to your department. We would also like to remain environmentally conscious, so if you can fit everything you need on a half sheet of paper that would be greatly appreciated.

All funds required for photocopying are the responsibility of your department. We are expecting nearly 450 first-years and their parents/support persons to come in this year, so please provide us with 900 copies of your information.

Please have all documents to us by Wednesday, July 9 at 2 p.m. They can be delivered to the Auggie Room (1F) in the Auggie's Nest in Christensen Center.

If you have any questions, please contact us at orientat@augsburg.edu or call at ext. 1100.
