Nuruddin Farah Reading & Signing
Thursday, May 15, 7 p.m.

Minneapolis, MN 55407

"Called 'one of the most sophisticated voices in modern fiction' (The New York Review of Books), Nuruddin Farah is widely recognized as a literary genius. He proves it yet again with "Knots," the story of a woman who returns to her roots and discovers much more than herself. Born in Somalia but raised in North America, Cambara flees a failed marriage by traveling to Mogadishu. And there, amid the devastation and brutality, she finds that her most unlikely ambitions begin to seem possible. Conjuring the unforgettable extremes of a fractured Muslim culture and the wayward Somali state through the eyes of a strong, compelling heroine, "Knots" is another Farah masterwork.

Artist Receptions this Friday, May 16

Start the annual Art-A-Whirl weekend at Augsburg this Friday, May 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Meet our two guest artists, Gregory Euclide and Doug McGoldrick, whose work will be featured in our galleries through July 11.

In the Gage Gallery, local artist Gregory Euclide draws, paints, and sculpts incredible visionary landscapes.

In the Christensen Center Art Gallery, Chicago photographer Doug McGoldrick confounds our vision as we "see" academic environments through the lens of someone who has struggled with learning disabilities.

Please help us welcome these artists to our campus!

Want my Sewing Machine?

My Singer 8280 quit working last weekend, so I bought a new one. This machine worked very well before Saturday, and I am fairly certain the repair will be simple. You can have my machine -- free! -- if you want to take it to the repair shop. Email wheelerw@augsburg.edu for more info.
