Your Chance for International Fame Is Here

Tom Witt and Mary Preus are in need of some help this Saturday and we wonder if any of you might be interested in coming to our aid!

The two of us plus Antonio Machado have been asked by the ELCA to produce a "teaching video" on "How to teach music from other cultures and languages to congregations." The filming is on a very short time line -- it's happening this weekend! -- and then it will be available to ELCA congregations who want to explore some of the global music that is found in the new Lutheran worship book and elsewhere.

One portion of the video will include us teaching eight songs from different parts of the world to a "fake congregation" (i.e. a group of people who will gather at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church this coming Saturday for a couple of hours). We're looking for some more people who would be willing to come to Our Saviour's from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. (includes a free lunch) and sit in a congregation with about 25-35 other folks and be taught this music. You'd be on camera as part of a larger group, and your voices would be heard as part of the congregation (i.e., you don't have to be a fantastic singer, or a Lutheran; just a part of a larger group who is learning a new song). There will be a couple of African songs with parts singing, but nothing so difficult that a congregation can't learn (e.g., you don't have to have choir experience).

So.......you have a chance to appear on a DVD, there's a free lunch provided, and you'd receive a free copy of the completed DVD when it's finished -- and you'd be helping out Mary and me a bunch by adding your body and voice to the mix!

Either women's or men's voices are welcome (or even children, as long as their not so young they would be too squirmy or unhappy being in church on Saturday). And you can certainly bring along anyone else who you think might be interested.

Just let me know whether you might be able to come, so we know how many lunches to provide.

To summarize, if you are able to spend a few hours this Saturday, Jan. 26 (10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Our Saviour's LC, 2315 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, in the sanctuary) helping be a voice in the choir (or congregation, that is!), could you please forward a quick response to me at twwitt@gmail.com?

We would be very grateful for your help!

Thanks,

-- Tom Witt
