January is Mentoring Month

"...the transition into young adulthood occurs most gracefully and with optimum potential when the emerging self is recognized and invited into a wider arena of participation by wise and trusted adults. Thus, this is the fitting time for the presence of mentors - whether guru, guide, coach, sponsor, aunt or uncle, supervisor, professor, author, or important friend."

"The power of mentoring relationships is that they help anchor the vision of the potential self. They beckon the self into being and, in so doing, help to ground a place of commitment within relativism. As such, mentors exercise both cognitive and affective appeal, offering both insight and emotional support."

From "Big Questions Worthy Dreams," by Sharon Daloz Parks, pp. 80-81.

Usually by the 15th day, students may obtain their own enrollment verification statement directly from the National Student Clearinghouse from their own computer via AugNet Records and Registration.

For more information on this service, please reference the Registrar web page at:

http://www.augsburg.edu/enroll/registrar/index.html

On this page, click Enrollment/Degree Verification for more detailed instruction and information. Or, if you are already familiar with this feature, you may log into AugNet Records and Registration and click on Enrollment Verification in the upper left hand corner menu. Note, the National Student Clearinghouse Enrollment Verification Form you will print off will have a box in the upper right corner to write in an insurance policy number. Reception for John Knight – Save the Date

Didn't get a chance to say goodbye and good luck to John Knight? Not to worry. There will be one more opportunity.

On Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 3 – 4:30 p.m. in the Augsburg Room, the Lilly Program will host a reception to celebrate John Knight’s many contributions to Augsburg College. Mark your calendar!

As you may know, our longtime colleague John Knight, formerly the director of development at Augsburg and for the past 2 years the Associate Director of the Augsburg Center for Faith and Learning, has embarked upon a new personal and professional adventure. He has joined the staff of Desiring God Ministries with responsibilities for fund development and strategic planning. Desiring God is a non-profit ministry organization birthed from his church several years ago. Though we are sad to see him leave Augsburg, we are happy that he will be using his considerable skills to fulfill this important new role.

Please join us Feb. 5 as we wish John well.
