WEC Students -- Vote on the Top Three 95 Theses

Dear WEC Students,

The WEC Student Senate has worked in cooperation with the Day Student Senate to create the 95 Theses. It is my sincere hope that all students will take time to read through the document and contemplate the issues brought to light. The 95 Theses reflect who we are as a community by honoring an important aspect of our Lutheran roots and by calling attention to the issues faced within the Augsburg community.

The senate would like to hear from students regarding the 95 Theses. We want to hear what is most important to you! Therefore, we are asking that you select the top three theses and send them to us. We will then compile a list of the students’ top concerns. Participating in this will let senate know what issues are most important to tackle and will strengthen the message as we proceed.

We understand that WEC and Grad students have limited time and appreciate all that you do. Honoring our request will take time and we value your investment and feedback. Please send your responses to wecgov@augsburg.edu by Nov. 12.

Mia Bothun
WEC Student Body President

To see the 95 Theses, pick up this week's issue of Echo or email Jessica Fox-Wilson at foxwilso@augsburg.edu.

Also, Intramurals is looking for a couple of individuals who may be interested in refereeing the co-ed soccer league. If you have a background in soccer and are looking to pick up a couple of extra work hours a week, contact hersch@augsburg.edu to see what is available.

Storytelling Festival Nov. 24

Hi folks! For the 7th year in a row, I am on the production committee for a local festival of storytelling. Here are the details:

Northstar Storytelling League and Open Book present
"Tellabration!™ 2007 - What’s Your Story?"
A local celebration of a national performing-arts movement

10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov. 24
at Open Book
1011 Washington Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN.

The day kicks off with a presentation “The Transformation of Storytelling in a Globalized World” by popular U of M storytelling guru Jack Zipes, facilitated by Elaine Wynne and Larry Johnson, who have been developing storytelling communities locally, nationally and internationally since the 1960s. Dr. Zipes will also offer a demonstration of the Bridges program in the afternoon.

In the afternoon, performances and story circles for all ages will be offered. Come to listen and be entertained, to learn how to share your own stories, or both! (Yours truly will perform in the “just for fun” segment at 3 p.m.)

Capping off the day is a storytelling concert for adults featuring a Thanksgiving feast of Minnesota talent, including John Berquist, Joan Calof, Rose Arrowsmith DeCoux, Mark Erickson, Colleen Kruse, Howard Lieberman, and phillip low. All daytime activities are free and open to the public. Tickets for the evening concert are $12, $10 with a Fringe festival button. The evening concert will be sign-language interpreted. Tickets to the concert are available from Vicki Keck in the copy center at 330-1054, or keck@augsburg.edu
