Teaching and Learning

St. Olaf Today...Augsburg Tomorrow

This morning, a select number of students are traveling to St. Olaf to the Seminary & Divinity School fair. While there, they are going to learn about life at the eight ELCA seminaries, plus several other seminaries and divinity schools from around the country.

Boo-hoo! You can’t go.

Well, tomorrow, the eight ELCA seminaries are going to be on campus all morning long. They will have a display in the Foss Atrium starting at 10 a.m. Ron Olson, Director of Admissions for Luther Seminary, will preach in chapel at 11:20 a.m. All the other seminaries are going to be present at chapel and in the Atrium during the morning.

They are interested in eating lunch with students and having informal conversation. Think about joining them in the cafeteria for some lunch (on Campus Ministry) and vocational discernment. Please take some time to talk with these representatives about your plans for the future.

The best part about the representatives is that they really want to help you discern your best vocational path. Don’t feel ashamed if you don’t choose their particular seminary. They want you to fulfill your own calling, even if that means a different school.

For more information on Seminaries and Divinity Schools, contact Ross Murray at murray@augsburg.edu.

Faculty/Staff Fitness/Wellness

Get your teams ready for another fitness opportunity. The Get Fit Twin Cities challenge is going to happen again this year, and we want to top the number of teams we entered last year (12 in all). Start organizing your team now.

You can have 2-10 members, and it is really fun. You can check out the web site, getfittwincities.org . We will keep you posted on deadlines, etc.

Your assignment now is to start contacting your colleagues and co-workers to form your team (remember, you need to have a team name) The contest runs from the first week in January until the end of March (exact dates yet to be determined). All you need to do is keep track of the number of minutes you exercise each day for 3 months (things like shoveling snow and walking the dog even count). It's a good way for all of us to use the long winter months to stay or get in shape. Now that the Air Structure is up and our new fitness center is in full force, we have no excuses. I'll keep you posted. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to e-mail pfaff@augsburg.edu or call x1247.

My Friend Needs a Babysitter - Can You Help?

Hello! My friend Amanda (she works at the U of MN) and her partner Rey (works at D'Amico) are in need of a part-time babysitter. Please see the ad below and respond to her e-mail if you are interested.
------------------------------------------------------
We are looking for a part-time caregiver for our daughter, who is 15 months old. We prefer for you to come to our home (near the U of M area), and we are willing to pay $10/hr (cash).

The typical hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays from noon - 3:30 p.m. (usually 10-12 hours a week), although sometimes work schedules might necessitate some minor changes. (We both work full-time, opposite schedules, so we need someone to take care of our daughter between the time when one goes to work and the other gets home!)

We are looking for someone reliable, responsible, gentle and caring for our daughter. Our last caregiver brought her daughter with her, and we are willing to consider this arrangement again.

Please respond with your interest, any questions, and attach a resume if possible.
