Subject: Faculty Participation in Scholarship Day (3/3/07)
Submitter:
Barbara Edwards Farley, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College

Message: I am pleased to announce that plans for this year’s Scholarship Day event, scheduled for March 2-3, 2007, benefited greatly from the work of Honors Program Director Robert Groven, members of the Honors Council, and the Admissions Department.

This annual event brings together highly qualified candidates for Augsburg’s most prestigious scholarships: President’s and Fine Arts Scholarships. This year's scholarship competition is family-oriented and includes an overnight stay for students on Friday, March 2. Saturday’s format will include academic competitions in writing, performances, and a 30-minute interview. President Pribbenow (the first to volunteer to be an interviewer!) will host a lunch for applicants and their families, which will conclude this event.

Approximately 40 faculty members will be needed to interview these student candidates on Scholarship Day. Besides providing a unique opportunity to engage with this group of talented student applicants, over the years faculty interview teams have proven to be a crucial component of this event’s success.

I hope you will consider participating in Scholarship Day. Contact Marissa Machado, machado@augsburg.edu with any questions. Please send an email to scholars@augsburg.edu to reserve a place on an interview team.
