Subject: Steven Schauer exhibition now on view

Submitter:
Kerry Morgan, Coordinator of Galleries and Exhibits, Art

Message: Drop by the Student Art Gallery in Christensen Center to see "Posers: A Life Drawing Retrospective" by senior art major Steven Schauer. Steven, who won first place in last spring's All-Student Juried Art Exhibition, suffered a stoke last May and the very fact he has been able to mount a senior art show is remarkable. To celebrate this accomplishment the Art Galleries and Art Department is hosting a special reception for Steven on Thursday, September 7 from 6-8 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

These meals provide students with a chance to get off campus and experience a taste of home cooking before the semester begins.

Subject: "Title the Sculpture" Contest

Submitter:
Kerry Morgan, Coordinator of Galleries and Exhibits, Art

Message: Have you noticed that four new pieces of public art have recently arrived on campus? To celebrate the arrival of these temporary installations the Art Galleries are sponsoring a contest to see who can come up with the best (i.e., most creative) titles for all four of the artworks.

How to enter:
Email your suggestions to Kerry Morgan at morgank@augsburg.edu by October 1. The winner(s) will be announced at the reception of our fall shows on Saturday, October 7.

Where to find the art:
The large welded steel sculptures by Sam Spiczka are on loan from the artist and are located in front of Lindell Library. in front of Foss, and in front of Christensen Center. (Smaller sculptures by Spiczka are being highlighted in the exhibition "Reliquiae," opening in the Gage Family Art Gallery on September 15.)

One welded steel sculpture by Norman Holen, art professor emeritus, is hanging in the foyer of Sateren. The piece is a gift to the College from Mike and Pauline Vinyon.

Bon courage (good luck)!

Subject: Farewell to Kenneth Turner
Submitter:
Alyson C. J. Olson, Director of Student Support Services, Student Support Services

Message: After four years as Academic Advisor with TRIO/SSS, Kenneth Turner, Jr. is leaving Augsburg to pursue an excellent opportunity as director of Urban Teaching and Child Development at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. ?KT? has chosen to leave without fanfare, politely declining my offers of celebration of his service (party, free lunch, flamingos). However if you would like to wish him well or squeeze any last work out of him, he can be reached at his office in SCI 114A, turnerk@augsburg, or x1314 through Friday, September 8.

Kenneth, you will be missed!
