Subject: Have you already printed your syllabus?

Submitter:
Regina Hopingardner, Administrative Assistant, CLASS Program

Message: If not, check to see if you have a statement about what students with disabilities should do if they want to access accommodations. The CLASS office Website has some examples of brief statements you can add to the bottom of your syllabus to let these students know that you are supportive of their right to access appropriate academic accommodations in college.

Faculty information and syllabus statement examples can be found at: http://www.augsburg.edu/classprogram/faculty.html If you have any questions, please call us at x1053.

Subject: What's up with the new public art on campus?

Submitter:
Kerry Morgan, Coordinator of Galleries and Exhibits, Art

Message: Yes, there are strange-looking sculptures appearing on campus, and no, they are not from another planet. Three large steel scultpures by Minnesota artist Sam Spiczka have been loaned to the College through May 2007. Spiczka, an award-winning sculptor, will be having an exhibition in the Gage Family Art Gallery in Lindell Library from September 15-October 27.

In addition, a sculpture by retired art professor Normal Holen has been added to the wall of Sateren lobby. It is a gift to the College from Mike and Pauline Vinyon.

In conjunction with the arrival of these four pieces of artwork, the Art Galleries are hosting a "Title that Sculpture Contest." You must locate the four sculptures and come up with appropriate titles for them. The person who comes up with the four best titles will receive a special prize. To enter, send in submissions via email to Kerry Morgan at morgank@augsburg.edu. You have until October 1 to enter. The winning titles will be announced and posted at the reception for Sam Spiczka's show on Saturday, October 7.

Enjoy the art!
