Subject: Become part of something very special...

Submitter:
Kathryn Croyle, Administrative Assistant to the VP, Institutional Advancement

Message:
I would like to invite all the Augsburg College community men and women faculty, staff, and students to join the Augsburg Associates.

The Associates is a very special group that serves Augsburg College in a variety of ways. Membership fees, starting at as little as $15, help provide a scholarship for an Augsburg student and fund many service projects for the campus. Past projects include: buying the organ for Hoversten Chapel, providing the new Welcome area outside of Admissions in Christensen, renovating the Augsburg Room and, of course, hosting Velcommen Jul.

You do not need a ãbunadä to join, and you can choose your level of involvement, from just making your membership donation (it is tax deductible!) to helping with estate sales or Velcommen Jul. This is a terrific opportunity to pool our resources to benefit this amazing institution. Please contact Kathryn Croyle at 612-330-1171 with questions or to request a membership form.

Subject: Eilidh Reyelts received travel award for research
Submitter:
Betsey Norgard, Director of Publications, Marketing and Communication

Message: Eilidh Reyelts, a 2006 biology graduate, was one of 160 students nationwide awarded a Corporate Activities Program Student Travel Grant by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM ) to attend the May national meeting in Orlando.

Her award was based on the abstract she submitted for the poster that she, Rachel Domier '05, and biology faculty member Beverly Smith-Keiling presented at the meeting. Titled "An Undergraduate Curriculum at Augsburg College Promoting Service-Learning in Microbiology/Immigrant Health," the project helped to integrate a microbiology service-learning project into AugSem and develop microbiology health modules for dissemination into the community.

Rachel and Eilidh were Lilly Scholars for one year, and Eilidh was selected by Midwest Campus Compact as a Citizen Scholar.
