Subject: Become part of something very special··

Submitter:
Kathryn Croyle, Administrative Assistant to the VP, Institutional Advancement

Message: I would like to invite all the Augsburg College community, faculty, staff, and students, to join the Augsburg Associates. The Associates is a very special group that serves Augsburg College in a variety of ways. Membership fees-- starting at as little as $15 help provide a scholarship for an Augsburg student and fund many service projects for the campus. Past projects include: buying the organ for Hoversten Chapel, providing the new Welcome area outside of Admissions in Christensen, renovating the Augsburg room and, of course, hosting Velcommen Jul. You can choose your level of involvement, from just making your membership donation (it is tax deductible!) to helping with estate sales or Velcommen Jul. This is a terrific opportunity to pool our resources to benefit this amazing institution. Please contact Kathryn Croyle at 612-330-1171 with questions or to request a membership form.

Subject: Performance Appraisal Form and Training

Submitter:
Cynthia J Greenwood, Director, Human Resources, Human Resources

Message: Last fall HR held a series of open forums on the topic of work culture. One of the issues discussed was the performance appraisal form and process. We have listened to your feedback and are pleased to present a new staff performance appraisal form that is simplified and more flexible, yet captures performance, achievement, and development information.

Please join us for an opportunity to see the new form and learn about the new process and a new way of thinking about performance management.

As a supervisor, you will discover how to use the performance appraisal process to motivate and achieve top performance from your employees.

As an employee, you will discover how to use the performance appraisal process to highlight your achievements and plan for future projects and professional development.

Completed performance appraisals, using the new form, will be due in Human Resources for all staff employees not later than Oct. 31, 2006.

Please join us at one of the following sessions:

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT FOR SUPERVISORS AND EMPLOYEES

Subject: Student Writing Contest - $150 in prizes!

Submitter:
Melissa M Bawek, Assistant Director of the Augsburg Fund, Development

Message: We need YOUR Augsburg story!

Do you know that scholarships awarded to students are funded in part by the generosity of alumni and benefactors of the college? Do you know that tuition does not cover the complete costs of an Augsburg education and college experience? Do you know where those critical dollars are found?

The answer is The Augsburg Fund. Every year The Augsburg Fund reaches out to alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends of the college to ask for their help in supporting Augsburg. From scholarships, to the new Si Melby addition and Gateway building, to renovations and campus repairs, donors to The Augsburg Fund are there to help.

But why do they give? Because of YOU the students, and they want to hear your Augsburg story!

The annual fund is looking for your inspiring student Augsburg story to share with our donors. As such, we are conducting a writing contest to solicit your Augsburg story. This writing competition will offer one first-place prize, and ten runner-up selections. Here are the guidelines:

- Maximum of 500 words
- The writer of the story chosen must be willing to work with our editorial guidance in creating an appeal for our audience.
- The ãfirst-placeä story chosen will receive a $50 gift card to Target, and will be the signator of our Fall 2006 annual fund appeal.
- Runner-up stories will receive a $10 gift card to Target, and will be used for monthly communications to our donors.
- A picture of the writer and their signature will accompany the story.
- Deadline to submit your work: Please email your story to Melissa Bawek at bawek@augsburg.edu by 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 25th.
- Open to current, enrolled Augsburg students only.
- Winners will be announced by September 5, 2006.

Please contact me if you have any questions either at 612 - 338-4819 or bawek@augsburg.edu

Subject: Augsburg Alumni Summer Production
Submitter:
Melissa L Morrissey, Student

Message: The Traveling Players present "Much Ado about Nothing," by William Shakespeare, in Twin Cities' area parks Aug. 18-23, and Sept. 14-15. Directed and produced by the sister team of Melissa Morrissey and Deanne McDonald (Augsburg '04), respectively, with choreography by Jessica Knapp, this premiere production epitomizes the contemporary collaborative style of the Twin Cities' newest roaming theater company.

A comedy of mistaken identity, deception, and trickery, "Much Ado About Nothing" includes some of Shakespeare's most comedic and memorable characters such as Dogberry, the wordy and inefficient constable, and Beatrice and Benedick, a pair who embody the term "battle of the sexes."

Performances and locations are as follows:
* Friday and Saturday, Aug. 18-19 7 p.m., Como Park, St. Paul, Lexington Parkway N and Horton Avenue.
* Wednesday, Aug. 23, 7 p.m., Central Park, Rotary Band Shell, 1501 Central Parkway, Eagan
* Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16 7 p.m., Nicollet Commons, Amphitheater, 12550 Nicollet Ave., Burnsville
