Subject: Faculty Asked to Recruit GRE Participants

Submitter:
Dixie Shafer, Director, Office for Undergraduate Research and Graduate Opportunity

Message: Faculty,
You know your students and which of them is considering (or should be considering) graduate school. Please help URGO by contacting those students and encouraging them to take the GRE Prep course which starts on Monday, June 12 (see details in this A-mail). Too often students don't read A-mail and miss the chance to participate.

Students planning a Fall '07 start to graduate school ideally should take the GRE this summer.

Thanks for helping me get the word out. Dixie

Subject: Build Community, share a meal this summer!

Submitter:
Timothy Dougherty, Campus Kitchens Supervisor, Center for Service Work and Learning

Message: The Campus Kitchen would like to extend an invite to all faculty, staff, and student groups to get on the bandwagon and become a part of the regular delivery crew for our meals to the neighborhood for the summer and beyond.

Like the Admissions office, you can have everyone sign up to do individual shifts to better the community. Or, like the Center for Service, Work, and Learning, sign up as a group from your department to do a regular monthly shift.

We all know that sharing a meal builds community. Come share it together on a regular basis with people from the neighborhood.

We're currently looking for crews to cover:

Tuesdays 4:30-6:30 p.m. - delivery to and meal sharing with immigrant youth at the Brian Coyle Center, just blocks from Augsburg.

Thursdays 11-1 p.m. - Serve and share lunch with the folks at the Peace House.

Thursdays 2-5 p.m. - Get to know some elders in South Minneapolis by delivering our meals directly to people's homes.

These opportunities are perfect for the office, the family, or the motivated group of friends! Just a few hours a month can have a profound stabilizing impact on us at the Campus Kitchen, and on our clients in the neighborhood.

Interested? Contact Tim Dougherty at x1624 or ckac@campuskitchens.org

We look forward to seeing you!

Subject: 06-07 Student Employment Job Fair

Submitter:
Saykham Panemalaythong, HR Assistant/Student Employment Coordinator, Human Resources

Message: Human Resources will be holding a Student Employment Job Fair during the Day 1 Expo Resource Fair on July 27th, 28th, August 1st and during the Auggie Involvement Fair on September 12. The purpose of the Job Fair is to give students a taste of the real world and let them experience the process of a job search.

To make this event possible for our students, we will need your assistance and involvement. If you or your department is planning on hiring a student worker for the 2006-2007 school year, this is something to consider. The Job Fair will allow you to meet new students, interview them, and select student(s) you think will best assist you and your department.

New students are sent information about the job fair by Campus Activities and Orientation in their SOAR packet. New students have been told that open positions on campus will be posted to the student website after June 10th, 2006. Students have the option to set-up their interview appointment prior to coming on campus through Human Resources or sign-up the day of their interview if open times are available.

To reserve a table for the Job Fair, please complete the registration form and return it to Human Resources, CB #79 by June 30th, 2006. You can find the form in the Human Resource public folder O:\public\Student\2006-2007 Student Employment/Job Fair Registration Form.

If you have any question or suggestion for the Student Employment Job Fair, please call me at X1058 or email panemala@augsburg.edu.

Thank you!
