Subject: Security Alert: Woman Threatened with Knife

Submitter:
John Pack, Director, Public Safety

Message: On Sunday evening, June 4, 2006, a woman was approached by a man who asked to use her cell phone. The woman, the guest of a student, was on 7th St between 20th and 21st Ave. When she refused, the man drew a knife and brandished it at the woman. The woman fled and no one was injured.

The man is described as black male, approximately 5'6" with a thin build and short hair. The man was wearing a navy blue shirt with white print and faded blue jeans. He left the scene with four other black males. No other description information is available for these men. The other men did not approach the woman.

If you have any information regarding this incident, you are encouraged to contact the Minneapolis Police Department of the Augsburg College Department of Public Safety (x1717). Please feel free to contact John Pack, Director of Public Safety, (x1644) whenever you have questions or concerns regarding public safety at Augsburg.

Message: Colleagues:

You are cordially invited to a coffee to discuss ideas around the visibility and support of faculty scholarship and research through CTL. This will be a brainstorming session as CTL moves to a model that is evolving significantly. I would welcome your ideas and input. Please join us in the CC Coffee shop on Wednesday June 14th at 1 p.m. This will not be the only opportunity for input, but I would like to get ideas this summer. Please invite anyone else you think would be interested.

Thanks.
Diane Pike

Subject: IMPORTANT! New copier codes for copiers on campus

Submitter:
Matthew D Rumpza, Manager Central Support Services, Central Support Services

Message: There will be a slight change to the codes you enter on the copiers when making copies. You will now use your FULL 5 digit cost center (or formally known as budget number) when entering your code to make copies. I will be entering the codes on the copiers in the next few days so they will need codes prior to making copies. The five digit codes will allow for better accounting for copies. The procedure is exactly the same but you will need your full Cost Center number instead of the last 4 digits. I will post a sign on the copiers with notice when I input the codes.
Thanks

Message: Augsburg's Tony Ciro named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Team

http://www.augsburg.edu/athletics/sportsnews/060506ciro.html

MINNEAPOLIS (6/5/06) -- Augsburg College student-athlete Tony Ciro (Sr., Spring Lake Park, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Team, as selected by CoSIDA, it was announced on Thursday.

It was the second Academic All-District honor this season for Ciro, a two-sport athlete at Augsburg. As a member of Augsburg's men's hockey team, he earned Academic All-District second-team honors in the men's at-large category in May.

Ciro has a 3.92 grade-point average and is a marketing major at Augsburg.

Ciro has competed as a track and field sprinter for two seasons at Augsburg, after transferring from fellow Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference school Bethel. He recorded top times of 11.07 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 22.21 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 51.14 seconds in the 400-meter dash during the outdoor season.

At the MIAC outdoor championships May 12-13, Ciro earned All-MIAC honors with a third-place finish in the men's 200-meter dash (22.59 seconds) at the conference meet, while earning All-MIAC honorable-mention honors with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.12 seconds). He was also a member of a 400-meter relay squad that finished fifth at the conference meet.

As a men's hockey goalie, Ciro played two seasons at Augsburg after playing his first two seasons at Bethel. This season, Ciro finished with a 7-7-3 record in goal, with 472 saves, an .871 save percentage and 4.27 goals-against-average in 17 games played. He recorded 32 saves in a 7-4 win over No. 2-ranked St. Norbert on Nov. 5, then notched 38 saves in a 7-4 win at No. 11-ranked Wisconsin-Superior on Jan. 13. In 69 games in his four-season collegiate career, Ciro finished with a 28-39-8 record, 1,983 saves, an .875 save percentage and 4.29 goals-against-average.

The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team is part of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Top student-athletes from non-Division I programs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ontario and Manitoba are eligible for inclusion on the district team. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.20 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. College sports information directors in the district vote for the teams. First-team Academic All-District members advance to the Academic All-America ballot, voted on by a committee of CoSIDA members.
