Regina Hopingardner, Administrative Assistant, CLASS Program

Message: Monday, May 15, 10-noon, Minneapolis Room.

Barb Blacklock, disability specialist from the University of Minnesota, will present a workshop on Universal Instructional Design (UID). UID is an approach to teaching that consists of proactive design and the use of inclusive instructional strategies that benefit a broad range of learners, including students with disabilities. She will share these principles and highlight what is often the most difficult principle to implement, ?Determining Essential Course or Program Requirements.? Opportunities will be provided for participants to apply these tools and she will address how to take the next step, identifying technical standards for programs.

Complimentary lunch will follow the seminar.

Message: The theme for this spring?s Lilly retreat is ?finding our way home again?. We will use spring themes to examine how we can connect who we are with what we do. All activities are invitational and personal time is scheduled into the retreat.

The retreat will be held at the Mount Olivet Retreat Center located twenty-five minutes south of the Twin Cities. The opening session will begin at 9:30 AM on Wednesday May 10th and we will depart after Lunch on May 11th. You are encouraged to stay overnight. May is a wonderful time to reflect on the past year and to plant seeds for the future.
