Wednesday, April 19, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., in the Marshall Room, faculty from the arts, humanities, mathematics, and sciences will present roundtable discussions on their current research. Lefse vs. Lutefisk

Thursday, April 20, 4 to 5 p.m., Marshall Room

Luther vs. Eck? Lincoln vs. Douglas? These disputations had nothing over the great debate that will happen this Thursday! Come hear the virtues of lefse expounded over the subtleties of lutefisk. The best of Norwegian cuisine will be argued and defended from the viewpoints of four academic disciplines: William V. Frame (Political Science), Lori Hale (Religion), Joan Griffin (English), and Ken Kaminsky (Mathematics).

Communication prof and debate coach Bob Groven will moderate. The kind Norwegian ladies of the Augsburg Associates will act as judges.

Delicious food and beverages will also be served. (Whether or not that includes lutefisk, you'll have to come to find out.) All are welcome.

Saykham Panemalaythong, HR Assistant/Student Employment Coordinator, Human Resources

Message: Greetings,

The end of the spring semester is almost upon us, and that means it is time to prepare for summer employment. If you have a new student employee(s), please have them come to Human Resources (HR) to fill out a student application. If your student from the spring semester is continuing employment for you, please have them come to HR to update/renew their position.
To make this process run smoothly, please note the following:

- All students working this summer need to stop by HR to update their employment status, or we will assume their positions end on May 4th, 2006. Please have them stop by as soon as summer work plans have been established.

Please provide your student with the following information to bring to HR:
1. Department name
2. Position name
3. Budget number
4. Pay rate
Standard pay is $8.65
Technical pay is $9.60
Supervisor pay is $9.85

- Once the student has updated their summer position information, we will send a Placement Notice to you for verification. We will need the Placement Notice signed and returned before the student can officially begin or continue employment.

- Students are not to exceed 40 hours of work per week, no matter how many positions are held. Please make sure that all timesheets are filled out completely and accurately and updated daily, not filled out all at once at the end of the pay period.

- If you would like to post summer positions on our website, please fill out the attached Student Needs Form and return it to HR. You can also find the form in the in the drive O:\Human Resources\public\Student\Summer 2006 Student Employment and return it electronically it to panemala@augsburg.edu.

When the position has been filled, please notify HR so that we can remove the posting from our website.

With your help, we hope to make an easy transition into the summer season. You can find this employment information and other related forms in the Human Resources public drive listed above. If you have any questions or problems, feel free to contact me at panemala@augsburg.edu or 612-330-1058.
