2006-07 PARKING INFORMATION

* Fall 2006 ticketing will begin the first day of school for all students, faculty, and staff.

* Instead of stickers, we will use hangtag permits next year, so each student will only need one and may use it in any vehicle.

* Public Safety will automatically mail all WEC/Grad students a permit with a vehicle registration card and safety tips.

* Permits will be mailed out before Saturday, August 26th, so students will have permits before school starts.

* Augsburg's complete parking rules and regulations may be found online on Augsburg's homepage. Follow the links: Administration, Security, Additional Information, and Parking Information.

Message: * Fall 2006 ticketing will begin the first day of school for all students, faculty, and staff.

* Faculty and staff who are willing to use payroll deduction for parking payment during the 2006-07 school year may register for permits beginning Monday. April 24th. Public Safety will mail out permits before school begins.

* In order to register for a permit, please fill out a "Payroll Deduction & Parking Registration" form. You may find these forms at the CC Info Desk, Public Safety Dispatch, Human Resources, or through your department secretary beginning April 24th. Once completed, these forms may be returned to Public Safety at CB #78.

* The deadline for paper registration is Thursday, June 15th. After this date, we will require online registration. Online registration will be available August 15th and throughout the school year. A payroll deduction option will still be available, but will be part of the online process available August 15th.

* Fac/staff permit prices will stay the same next year: $45 per month from September - April for full-time employees. For part-time rates, please see the payroll deduction form.

* Gateway Building construction will begin this summer. At that time, lot H (the main fac/staff lot) will close. Lots available to faculty and staff will be lots D, G, J, and L.

Message: * Fall 2006 ticketing will begin the first day of school for all students, faculty, and staff.

* Resident and commuter permit prices will go up $10 per semester next year: the total cost will be $120 per semester or $240 for the year (September - April).

* Students who wish to renew their permits may do so online from Tuesday, August 1st until Monday, August 14th at 8 p.m.

* Seniors may purchase a parking permit online Tuesday, August 15th.

* Juniors may purchase a parking permit online Wednesday, August 16th.

* Sophomores may purchase a parking permit online Thursday, August 17th.

* Freshmen may purchase a parking permit online Friday, August 18th.

* Complete information about using the online system will go out to students before August 15th.

* There will be "second chance" permit sales the second week of school, but permit availability will be very limited.

* City street permits will also be sold the second week of school. Only residents are eligible for City street parking.

The application deadline has been extended to April 21 and the eligibility guidelines have been revised for Summer Research proposals. You may apply if you are in your first year of employment at Augsburg or if you received an award last year, Summer 2005. Other criteria are:

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Quality Criteria. Preference will be given to proposals that show evidence of thorough preparation and that meet the following criteria:
- Clear statement of realistic goals and objectives
- Appropriate and detailed project method/plan for achieving the goals and objectives
- Explanation of advance preparation and planning
- Clear description of the project's assessment
- Detailed timeline and budget

Other Criteria. Additional criteria that may influence the Committeeâs decision include:
- Use of language and terminology that are clear to non-experts
- Necessity for funding for project completion
- Please attach a curriculum vita.

FUNDING: Up to $2000 per grant.
Source: Grangaard Faculty Development Fund. 2-3 additional awards may be granted.
Funding decisions are made by the Faculty Development Committee. All funds must be requested by the end of the fiscal year in which the grant is awarded.

APPLICATION: Please use the Research Application form that is available by calling Terry Martin, x1229 or at the CTL website. Please send the completed application as an e-mail attachment to martin@augsburg.edu.

Extended Application Date: April 21 for the summer 2006.

Luther vs. Eck? Lincoln vs. Douglas? These disputations had nothing over the great debate that will happen this Thursday! Come hear the virtues of lefse expounded over the subtleties of lutefisk. The best of Norwegian cuisine will be argued and defended from the viewpoints of four academic disciplines: William V. Frame (Political Science), Lori Hale (Religion), Joan Griffin (English), and Ken Kaminsky (Mathematics).

Communication prof and debate coach Bob Groven will moderate. The kind Norwegian ladies of the Augsburg Associates will act as judges.

Delicious food and beverages will also be served. (Whether or not that includes lutefisk, you'll have to come to find out.) All are welcome.

The event will feature music by The Augsburg Centennial Singers, Augsburg Masterworks Chorale, and Gospel Praise with a keynote address by Bishop Mark Hanson, presiding bishop of the ELCA.

Pastor Dave Wold will serve as MC. A reception with refreshments will follow the program in the church's Fellowship Hall.

A free shuttle will run between Augsburg (outside the Music Building) and the dance from 6:30pm - 12:30 am.

7:00 The Pavilion will serve a sit-down dinner to those with dinner tickets. If you received a dinner ticket, you MUST bring it with you to be served dinner.

8:00 The dance begins. You must present your ticket to enter. DJ sponsored by PASU. Hors d'ouerves will be served all night long. There will also be a free coffee bar and dessert bar.

With blessings for First Lady, Anne Frame

The Riverside Singers of Augsburg College under the direction of Nancy Grundahl will pay tribute to Augsburg's First Lady, Anne Frame, on Sunday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Hoversten Chapel. This concert will conclude the women's chorus' Spring 2006 tour of metropolitan area churches and high schools.

Many of the songs on the program are about "leave-taking." From the familiar "Going Home" by Antonin Dvorak to the newly-commissioned, "Someone Will Remember Us" by Minnesota composer Jocelyn Hagen, the choir will sing songs that yearn for those who have gone and celebrate their importance in our lives.

Riverside Singers Alumna and women of the faculty and staff are invited to join in singing the Gaelic Blessing to Anne Frame. (Rehearsal will be held at 7 p.m. in the Choir Room prior to the concert.)

Message: The Awaken Drama Ministry is comprised of a group of young adults who have been touring Northern Nebraska, Iowa, and Southern Minnesota since February of 2006. The program done by Awaken is similar to those produced at Augsburg and featured during communion services the past three years. The drama presentation is a compelling portrayal of God's love for a broken humanity. There are two opportunities to see it, FOR FREE, this weekend; Saturday, April 22 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Bloomington at 7 pm. And, Sunday, April 23 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake at 7 p.m. Doors open a half hour before the presentation.

The senior rehearsal is from 5:45- 6:30. Thus there is a time conflict with the dinner portion of the senior party. So to correct this... The dinner will be at 7 p.m. with a show at 8 p.m.

Also transportation will be provided, so boarding the bus will be right after rehearsal.

DAY Students: Please pick up your projects, portfolios and papers from previous semesters in Sverdrup 4 before April 28. The Education Department will be packing up and moving to Lindell Library Study Rooms the week of May 1-9. Student work from spring semester, 2006, will be available through the class instructor--please make arrangements to pick up work during this time. All spring semester that has not been picked up will be put into storage over the summer and put out in September, 2006.

WEC Students: Your work is also available in Sverdrup 4--please pick up any previous trimester before May 9. Student work left in the back dating before winter trimester, 2006, will be recycled. Winter trimester work will be put into storage May 9. and will not be available until September 2006.
