This Thursday the Art Club will be hosting a figure drawing session from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. The cost is only $5 per student, and it allows you excellent practice of drawing the human figure.

Subject: Ombuds needed - application on-line!

Message: Applications are invited for the Augsburg Student Ombuds. The Augsburg Student Ombuds is a designated neutral or impartial dispute resolution practitioner whose major function is to provide confidential and informal assistance to students (Day, WEC, and Graduate) of Augsburg College. The Ombuds may serve as counselor, go-between, mediator, informal fact-finder, or upward feedback provider. The ombudsperson's function is located outside the ordinary line management structure. The ombudsperson has access to anyone in the organization including the chief executive officer.

Pay is $800/semester.

Additional Responsibilities
1. Schedule and keep routine weekly hours so that students and other Augsburg community members can access services and assistance.
2. Publicize services of the Ombuds Office through the web and respond to email inquiries.
3. Attend activities fair, health fair, new student orientation, etc., to promote office and services.
4. Meet monthly with the Dean of Students to review issues and student concerns in general. Contact Dean of Students as needed for assistance with specific issues.
5. Meet each semester with the President to discuss issues and concerns brought forward by students.
6. Attend workshops and trainings as determined.

The evening will start at 5 p.m. with a casual tailgate dinner at Augsburg to learn and share experiences with your fellow undergraduate and MBA students along with faculty and staff. This is a great time to network with your fellow Auggie business classmates which can be invaluable as you start to think about internships and employment for the future. After dinner, we'll head to the Metrodome for a 7 p.m. Minnesota Twins game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Message: The ASAC Music Committee brings national artist Ben Lee to Augsburg's Spring Music Jam on Saturday, April 22, 2006 as part of ASAC's Spring Fling week. The FREE concert will start at 5:30 p.m. in Lot E on the Urness Lawn. Ben Lee is most well know for performing the songs "Catch My Disease" and "Gamble Everything For Love" and can be heard on 89.3 The Current, Cities 97, and Drive 105.

Also in concert will be Useless, the rock band featuring members of the national band Flipp, the Augsburg Battle of the Bands winner Accident Waiting to Happen, and local bands Capitol Jay and the New Monarchs. Subject: 3rd Annual Healthcare Conference - May 22, 2006

Message: The 3rd annual "Building Minnesota's Healthcare Workforce Through Diversity" conference is scheduled for Monday, May 22 from 8 a.m- 5 p.m. at Augsburg College. The theme for this year's conference is Strategies for Success. The goal of the conference is to provide participants with evidence of successful strategies for growing, nurturing, and sustaining a talented, diverse healthcare workforce. There will be a morning panel, an afternoon general session, 8 concurrent in-depth sessions, a networking lunch and exhibit area. This is a collaborative conference sponsored by Augsburg College, the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center, Fairview Health Services, and the Healthcare Education Industry Partnership.

The conference brochure and registration online are at www.augsburg.edu/healthcare Augsburg faculty and staff should have also received a copy of the conference brochure in the mail. There is a conference rate for Augsburg staff and faculty of $25. Augsburg staff and faculty who are members of the conference planning committee will receive a complimentary registration.

Message: Rikki Starich has been awarded the honor of being a part of the STARS, a program that is part of an international organization called ACUHO-I (Association of College and University Housing Officers- International.) The ACUHO-I STARS College is an educational program for undergraduate students who are interested in a career in housing and residence life. The STARS College is held as a pre-conference workshop at the annual ACUHO-I Conference each summer. STARS provides opportunities for participants to learn more about the field of housing and residence life as well as gain mentoring from experienced professionals in the field.
