Subject: VP of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College

Submitter:
Gaye Lindfors, , Human Resources

Message: TO: Augsburg College Faculty and Staff

FROM: President-Elect Pribbenow

RE: Leadership Structure

It was good to spend time with many of you at the All-Hands Thursday morning. All of you and President Frame have set a clear vision for this wonderful institution, and I am honored to join you in moving this vision forward.

As announced at the All-Hands gathering, I have decided to return to a more traditional leadership model for the college. The Provost role, which Chris Kimball has so ably filled these past several years and which was important to the college?s daily work as President Frame devoted more time to the capital campaign, will be eliminated. Instead, we will reinstitute the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College as the senior academic affairs officer. I have worked with the Faculty Senate to design an internal search process that will identify a vice president who will serve for one year, assuming office on July 1, 2006. Early next fall we will launch a national search for a Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College, to assume office in July 2007.

Follow this link to the job posting:
http://web.augsburg.edu/~lindfors/VPofAcademicAffairsJobPosting.doc

Our process:
? Nominations and applications may be submitted until Friday, March 31.
? Nominations and applications should be sent to my attention, c/o Gaye Lindfors in the Human Resources office.
? The Faculty Senate (or its designated subgroup) will serve as the search committee.
? Interviews will be held later this semester.
? I expect to announce my decision by commencement.

You can find the job description posted on the HR page of the Augsburg website.

If you have any questions, please send me an email at PPribbenow@Rockford.edu, or contact Gaye Lindfors at Lindfors@augsburg.edu; x1023.

I look forward to our work together.

Message: Discover Your Mission Statement for Work and for Life

A unique opportunity for personal growth and for discerning God's purpose for your life.

In a world where we are daily forced to make decisions that lead us either closer to or further from our goals and the life we envision, three key discoveries can make all the difference in the world: 1) My Purpose; 2) My Priorities; and 3) My Plan.

Come and join Gaye Lindfors as she facilitates this workshop for anyone seeking a clearer, more meaningful journey - in the workplace, at home, and in life. You will develop your own individual mission statement that will give your life a whole new direction and purpose. You will also clarify what your life may look once that mission becomes clearer.

This 3-session, faith-based workshop helps make the connection between your purpose, your work, and your vocation. Each session is 2 hours. Participants are expected to attend all 3 sessions.

Dates: Thursdays: March 30, April 6, and April 13.
Time: 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Message: Augsburg alum Carolyn Ross Isaak among finalists for Division III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Student-Athletes of last 25 years

http://www.augsburg.edu/athletics/sportsnews/031606ross.html

MINNEAPOLIS (3/16/06) -- Augsburg College track and field alumnus Carolyn Ross Isaak '89 is among a list of 44 finalists to be named as one of two Most Outstanding Athletes of the last 25 years in NCAA Division III women's outdoor track and field, as part of the NCAA's 25th anniversary celebration of its women's championships.

The most decorated individual student-athlete in Augsburg history, Ross Isaak earned five individual national titles, nine All-American honors and 13 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference individual championships in track and field. She earned NCAA Division III individual titles in the indoor 400-meter dash in 1988 and 1989, the outdoor 400-meter hurdles in 1988 and 1989, and in the outdoor 400-meter dash in 1989. Her 1989 championship time of 58.99 seconds in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles is still the NCAA Division III national meet record.

She was Augsburg's Women's Honor Athlete in 1989. She was a medalist in the 1990 U.S. Olympic Festival and was a U.S. Olympic Trials participant in 1992. A Cum Laude graduate, she served as an assistant track and field and cross country coach and admissions counselor at Augsburg from 1990-92. From 1992-99, she served as an assistant track and field and cross country coach at Purdue University. The Boilermakers won the Big Ten track team championship in 1999, and while there, she coached an NCAA and Pan Am Games heptathlon national champion, as well as the current American record-holder in the indoor 60-meter dash.

She returned to Minnesota in 1999, when she began working at Gustavus Adolphus College as track and field associate head coach and assistant director of admissions. She and her husband, Jim, now live in Rochester, Minn. She was inducted into Augsburg's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.

Ross Isaak is one of six MIAC athletes to be included on the 44-athlete women's track and field list. To be included, athletes had to have won a minimum of three NCAA championships in outdoor track and field, and/or currently holds an NCAA championship record. Also included from MIAC schools:
