Subject: New Student Organization Presents New Musical

Submitter:
Brian R Halaas, Student

Message:
"music+theatre@augsburg" presents:
HELLO AGAIN
a contemporary musical by Michael John LaChiusa

This musical defies many of the stereotypes you might associate with musical theatre. With ten scenes and ten different characters, LaChiusa uses a unique structure that ties everything together through a series of relationships and sexual encounters. Student actors have taken on this challenging work that has a musical score with a wide variety of musical styles.

Performances:
Friday, January 20th at 7 p.m.
Saturday, January 21st at 7 p.m.
Sunday, January 22nd at 7 p.m.

Sateren Auditorium, Music Hall

Reservations are recommended but admissions is free.
Tickets will be available in Christensen Center January 17-21 or by emailing stedman@augsburg.edu

The Augsburg College student organization "music+theatre@augsburg" was founded in 2005 to facilitate the exploration of musical theatre.

Kerry Morgan, Coordinator of Galleries and Exhibits, Art

Message: The first two art exhibitions of 2006 open Friday, January 13.

The Gage Family Art Gallery will feature "Borders," an interactive installation by Barbara Claussen about public and private space. In the Christensen Center Art Gallery the show "Justice for All?" consists of photographs taken by Terry Gydesen on the highly politicized topic of gay rights.

Subject: January Peace With Justice Forum Set

Submitter:
Daniel Jorgensen, Director of Public Relations, Office of the President

Message: Al Bostelmann & Verlyn Smith will be this month's Peace With Justice forum speakers on the topice "Perspectives on the Just War Tradition," set for Sunday, Jan. 15, at Central Lutheran Church, 3rd Ave. and 12th St. (next to the Convention Center) in Minneapolis.

The monthly forum is sponsored by the ELCA's Minneapolis and St. Paul Synods, partners of Augsburg in the Faith in the City consortium and will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. It is open to all at no charge. Validated parking is available in the lot/ramp on the south side of the church. Lunch is available for a cost of $7.

The speakers will cover the various Just War standards as developed by the early Church fathers and more recent theologians and offer a couple of different perspectives on this issue.

Bostelmann is a clinical social worker and a combat-trained infantry veteran. He is a member of Vets for Peace, Lutheran Peace Fellowship, and is active in the Every Church a Peace Church movement.

Smith is a retired ELCA pastor and social-justice advocate. He has been active in many peace with justice organizations including the Nonviolent Peaceforce, Lutheran Peace Fellowship, and the Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers.

Subject: You've Been Spotted!

Submitter:
Marcus Skjervem, Director, Activities and Orientation, Academic and Student Affairs

Message: "You've Been Spotted" is a campaign to encourage students to apply for the 2006 Orientation Leader positions. We have sent the heads of departments, offices and AugSem faculty ten postcards that include a space for a students' name and campus box number on the back. In order to recruit a staff of diverse student leaders, we ask that you take a few minutes to share this with your staff and send the enclosed postcards to students you feel would represent Augsburg College well during our orientation programs this year.

Orientation Leaders are central to the success of Augsburg Collegeās First Year Experience initiatives. These positions are designed to create a sense of consistent role modeling while also facilitating social integration to the Augsburg community and beyond. We have enclosed a copy of the Orientation Leader job description for your information.

Please contact Marc Skjervem (x1111 or skjervem@augsburg.edu) if:

1. Your office needs more than 10 postcards
2. Your office did not receive a packet and would like to nominate students.
3. You have any questions regarding the "You've Been Spotted" campaign, Orientation Leader selection, or the Orientation Leader position

Send those postcards out and make sure those students know that "They've Been Spotted!"

Applications Available online: Tuesday, January 17th
Applications Due: Friday, February 3rd by 4:30 p.m.
Interviews: February 13-16
