Subject: Augsburg receives portion of Thrivent grant

Submitter:
Stephanie Malone, Director of the Augsburg Fund, Development

Message:
Augsburg was awarded bonus funding of $5,415 from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for successfully meeting the GivingPlus program challenge.

In total, 693 Thrivent Financial members supported Augsburg College with financial contributions through GivingPlus in 2005. We greatly exceeded our assigned goal of 588 by the December deadline, and thereby increased the College's donor base and charitable contributions. Thrivent Financial supplemented the 693 Thrivent donors' contributions in the amount of $75,805. The bonus funding from the challenge grant supplements the GivngPlus matches already received.

Augsburg shares the $800,000 of bonus funding with about 450 Lutheran schools and social service agencies that also met their pre-determined number of Thrivent participants.

We are grateful to all the donors who helped Augsburg achieve record participation. We are also grateful to Thrivent Financial for offering this challenge and the opportunity to earn a financial outreach bonus. The funds allocated to Augsburg will be used for student scholarships, curriculum development, student-oriented activities and campus improvements.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this special initiative. Your support helped to make this success possible!
