Subject: Security Alert: Robbery on 21st Ave

Submitter:
John Pack, Director, Public Safety

Message: On Monday, January 2, 2005, at approximately 5:30 pm, a woman was robbed on 21st Ave, between 7th and 8th St, while walking to her parked car. The woman reports that a Chevy Suburban, green or black in color, approached her and two men got out. They asked the woman what time it was and, when she was distracted, hit her, took her purse and fled in the Suburban. The vehicle did not have a rear license plate.

The first man is described as a black male, approximately 6?0?, 150 lbs and appeared to be in his late teens to early twenties. He wore a black puffy coat with some green on it. He is clean shaven with a ?friendly face.?

The second man is described as a black male, approximately 5?6?, 135 lbs and 16 to 18 years old. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Department of Public Safety at x1717 or the Minneapolis Police Department.

The Department of Public Safety encourages everyone, men and women, to walk with a friend or to use the escort service. Escorts are available all day, every day by calling the Department of Public Safety at x1717.

Linda M. Vlieger, Payroll / HRIS Coordinator, Human Resources

Message: To ensure that the carryover balances are correct for all employees for the new year on 1/1/06, we ask that all staff submit any timesheets or absence reports from 2005 that have not already been turned in. The deadline for these forms is January 10 in order for us to complete all the data entry for the next pay period.

Exempt staff are reminded to submit the absence reports for the week between Christmas and New Years with the appropriate codes and hours.

Thank you for your effort in helping keep these records up to date.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday break!

Message:
Safe Place Tutoring Program, run by Trinity Congregation and located above St. Martin's Table, is looking for faculty, staff and students to help with at least one tutoring shift from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. on January 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th or 13th. Youth ages 12-18 years come to this program every day after school for help with their homework. The majority of tutees are recent immigrants to the U.S. (No experiences is needed and supervision will be provided.)

Please note that this help is needed due to the fact that the majority of tutors for this program are Augsburg Reads or service-learning students ... who are currently on break.
