Augsburg Experience Info Sessions
Have you completed your Augsburg Experience graduation requirement? If not, this is a great opportunity to learn about your options to complete this requirement and select one that helps you apply your academics and enhance your experience at Augsburg. The options we will review include:
Faculty/Student research
Internships (for-credit or non-credit)
Study Abroad
Service learning (course based or individual)
During the information sessions you will learn more about your options for the Augsburg Experience and the steps you need to take to register or complete each of the options. There will also be time to have your individual questions answered. You can attend any of the 20 minute information sessions offered on the following dates and times:
Friday, November 22 at 10:30 a.m.
Monday, November 25 at 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, December 3 at 2:30 p.m.
Information sessions will be located in the Strommen Center for Meaningful Work (Christensen Center, Suite 100). If you have any questions, contact Career & Internship Services at 612-330-1148.

Host an Augsburg Intl. Student for Thanksgiving
Augsburg faculty and staff have a long tradition of inviting international students to join them for a Thanksgiving meal.
If you are interested in hosting one or several international students for a Thanksgiving meal, please send a note to porter@augsburg.edu to be matched with students. Indicate the number of students you are able to host. This is always a meaningful time and the students love a home cooked meal!
Deadline Approaching: Open Enrollment
If you have not submitted your benefit elections to the HR Moodle and would like assistance, please plan to attend one of the help sessions listed below.
All benefit eligible employees will need to complete the enrollment form, even if you plan to maintain the same benefit coverage elections from 2013. Additionally due to enrollment forms being submitted online, no paper forms will be accepted.

Dardis Academy - On Campus (Summer Employment)
The Strommen Center for Meaningful Work would like to invite students to stop by the lobby of the Christensen Center today from 9:30-1:00. Representatives from Dardis Academy will be on campus to share their summer program.
They offer student interns a competitive edge as they provide the practical hands-on experience employers are looking for. Selected students complete their intensive, week-long executive training program, and the following 9 weeks are spent utilizing those skills in a real-world, entrepreneurial setting as they run their own business.

Strategies for Finding Grant Funding (Fac/Staff)
Need funding for your research or program? Attend the spark session on Wednesday, November 20 to learn strategies for making finding grant funding quicker and easier!
After one hour, you will know how to:
-access GrantForward, a web-based search engine for grants,
-conduct searches and apply filters, and
-have GrantForward conduct searches and deliver new funding opportunities directly to your inbox without any additional effort on your part!
Feel free to bring a laptop to follow along and get a jump start on finding the perfect funding opportunity. The session will begin promptly at 1 p.m. in OGC 103.

NCS-MAA Contest
On Saturday, Nov. 16, the North Central Section of the Mathematical Association of America team contest took place. In recent years, about 80 teams from colleges and universities in Minnesota, North and South Dakotas, and part of Canada have participated.
Representing Augsburg this year were the following 8 students:

Joe Hognander Sponsors CSBR Study/Meeting Space
Joe (Orville C. Hognander, Jr.) has pledged $100,000 for a study/meeting space in the business faculty office suite in the Center for Science, Business, and Religion. "I want to do this to honor the memory of my father, Orville C. Hognander, Sr. '36," Joe said.
Orville, Sr., was a successful businessman who built the Tennant Co's marketing organization. When he was just 43, he suffered a major stroke. No longer able to use his dominant hand, he relearned how to write, to walk with the aid of a brace, and to speak. After a recovery period, he resumed his work as vice president and director of the company, retiring in 1973. He was married to Gertrude '36; both are now deceased.
