Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Crime Alert: Burglary in Oren Gateway Center

August 31, 2013: Burglary

Public Safety was notified Aug. 29th of a stolen video projector from an Oren Gateway classroom. Classroom Services and IT staff noticed the cable from the projector appeared to have been cut. It is not clear if the room was locked or unlocked when the projector was taken. A report was filed with the Minneapolis Police Dept. If you have any information about this crime, please report to Public Safety Dispatch 612-330-1717 or Minneapolis Police 911.

You Can Help Prevent Crime at Augsburg!

Immediately report any suspicious activity to the Minneapolis Police or Augsburg DPS.

Always lock office and residence windows, individual room doors and the suite door whenever you leave, even if you will only be gone briefly. Most home burglaries take only 3 to 5 minutes, office burglaries can take even less time.

If you misplace or do not have a key, please call x1717 and ask us to come and lock the office/residence. Please wait in the office until we arrive.

Do not prop open doors. If you see a door propped open, close the door and report it to DPS by calling 1717.

Keep valuables out of view. If possible, secure them in a locking drawer or cabinet. Better yet, take your valuables with you or leave them at home.

Keep your keys on your person at all times.

Seeking Female Performers/Dancers as well as Male or Female Musicians (guitarist and percussionist/live sound effects) for the fall production of House of Bernarda Alba.

The Augsburg Theater Arts Department will hold auditions for its main stage production, House of Bernarda Alba, written by Federico Garcia Lorca, translated by Michael Kidd and directed by Dario Tangelson.

Auditions will be held in Tjornhom-Nelson Theater, in Foss Center.
Plan to stay for the whole session on one of the following evenings:
Monday September 9, 6-8 or Tuesday September 10, 4-6 p.m.
Call-back auditions will be held Wednesday September 11, 6-8 p.m. Plan on staying for the full session.
Rehearsals will begin Monday, September 16.
Performance dates are Nov. 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 3 and 10 at 3 p.m.

Further Information and audition sign-up sheet will be posted on the Tjornhom-Nelson Theater door in the Atrium of the Foss Center. All Augsburg students are welcome to audition!

House of Bernarda Alba is a highly physical take on Lorca's last play, which depicts the life of an affluent family in 1930s Spain. Forced by Bernarda, the tyrannical matriarch, into an eight-year mourning period after the death of her husband, the Alba sisters see all of their dreams and deepest desires smothered by their despotic mother's rule. Forced to never leave the house and cut off from the outside world the asphyxiating atmosphere drives the sisters against each other in an inevitable path to tragedy.
