Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Excess Office Furniture

PHASE I: Due to office moves and office updating, we have extra office furniture. If you have a need in your office (a file cabinet, a bookshelf, etc.) please visit the basement corridor of Foss and take a look. Keep in mind that we have tried hard to update offices around campus, and if you have office space that has been updated with new furniture, panels, etc., we want to keep those areas coordinated and may not add mismatched pieces. If you find something that you can use in your office, please place a sticky note on it with your name and office location, and send facilities a request through Inside Augsburg> Administrative Tasks> Facilities Request to request the move. Your request must be placed by end of day Monday, August 19.

PHASE II: Beginning Tuesday, August 20, you may claim excess furniture in the basement corridor of Foss for your personal use or to donate to a non-profit organization you support. On any items that are not marked for an office location, place a sticky note with your name and 'PERSONAL'. Please haul away your item(s) by Friday, August 23. If you need reasonable additional time, please contact me via email and I will try to accommodate your request.

General Announcements

Volunteer To Get Fresh Produce Into Food Shelves

Campus Kitchen has started a big project this growing season and we need your help to make it happen! This summer and fall, we're collecting donations of unsold produce from farmers markets and moving those donations into food shelves. We need volunteers to come with us to the markets each week to help load up the extra produce and bring it to food shelves and other food distribution points. In addition to moving thousands of pounds of fresh, healthy food into low income communities, volunteers also get to go home with some vegetables for themselves.

Right now, we really need volunteers for all of the market days. We look for 2-4 volunteers (in addition to the lead intern) for each day.

If you're interested in helping, even just once to try it out, please send an email to Brittany at kimball@augsburg.edu. All of the available times can be found below. We would love to have you join us!

Gordon Odegaard '52 Leaves $2.5 Million Gift

Gordon Odegaard never sought attention from Augsburg College. He entered Augsburg in 1948 (Class of '52). Gordon left quietly after one year. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951, spending three years assigned to the Army Security Agency, as an instructor and manual writer.

Born March 6, 1930 in Thief River Falls, MN to Morris and Gladys (Vigness) Odegaard, he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948.

Following his discharge from the Army in 1954, Gordon returned to the University of Minnesota and, in 1955, Gordon graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with distinction.
