Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Undergraduate Day Student Parking

Parking permit sale dates and cost information for FALL 2013 is in the attached link. Sales are NOT open yet, please use the information to find your specific registration date.

http://web.augsburg.edu/dps/parkingfall2013STUDENT.pdf

Please be aware that due to academic schedule changes and the increase in summer activities, Public Safety will require parking permits to be displayed throughout the summer in 2014. Any 2013-14 academic year permit will be acceptable. For example, if a student purchases a fall 2013 permit, that same permit can be used throughout the summer at no extra cost to the student. More information regarding summer 2014 will be available next spring

Excess Office Furniture

PHASE I: Due to office moves and office updating, we have extra office furniture. If you have a need in your office (a file cabinet, a bookshelf, etc.) please visit the basement corridor of Foss and take a look. Keep in mind that we have tried hard to update offices around campus, and if you have office space that has been updated with new furniture, panels, etc., we want to keep those areas coordinated and may not add mismatched pieces. If you find something that you can use in your office, please place a sticky note on it with your name and office location, and send facilities a request through Inside Augsburg> Administrative Tasks> Facilities Request to request the move. Your request must be placed by end of day Monday, August 19.

PHASE II: Beginning Tuesday, August 20, you may claim excess furniture in the basement corridor of Foss for your personal use or to donate to a non-profit organization you support. On any items that are not marked for an office location, place a sticky note with your name and 'PERSONAL'. Please haul away your item(s) by Friday, August 23. If you need reasonable additional time, please contact me via email and I will try to accommodate your request.

Helpful Hints for Working at the Fair

Many of you were able to come to the training for working at the Augsburg booth at the State Fair, but in case you couldn't, here are some helpful hints:

1. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes before your shift begins. Augsburg does not reimburse for parking and highly recommends the Park and Ride options: http://www.mnstatefair.org/general_info/get_here/park_ride.html

2. During your 4-hour shift, never, never, never leave the booth un-personed! That's why we have two people there; if our booth is ever left empty and the state fair people take note of it, we will never be allowed another booth.

3. Feel free to have food/beverage at the booth.

4. Please wear Auggie gear if you have it; not necessary.

5. In the booth you will find brochures to hand out about the College, Auggie buttons to hand out (happy to have anyone take 1 or 2). There will also be coupons for a free lunch at Nabo, but the ONLY people who can get the coupon are folks who are wearing Augsburg "stuff". A hat, a t-shirt, a backpack, etc.

6. Invite alums, current students, parents to write a word of welcome on the post cards provided in the booth. We want to have these post cards in the rooms of all the new students starting this fall (and in the mail boxes of our students who commute).

7. We have also put together a three-ring binder with more specific information about admissions, our various programs. I would suggest that you and your shift partner take a look at that when you arrive, just so you know all that's in there. Usually the people who stop by the booth fall into one of three areas: alums, prospective students/families and students who are starting as new Auggies in September (they are usually SO excited; a fun group).

8. Have fun! Smile at people! Invite them to take a picture with Auggie Eagle! Be a proud Auggie!

Do you still need your admission ticket? Please contact me so I can get it to you! My email is herron@augsburg.edu or my ext. is 1525
