Library Hours July 8-10 and Summer Session II

Lindell Library will be closed Friday, July 8 through Sunday, July 10.

During Summer Session II, Monday, July 11-Thursday, August 11, hours are:
Monday-Thursday: 9am-9pm
Friday: 9am-4pm
Saturday: 10am-4pm
Sunday: Noon-6pm

Life of the Mind – October 22-23

Next year's Life of the Mind Retreat will be held October 22-23, and focus on Global Poverty and Social Inequity. It will be organized by Katie Welle, Steve Peacock, Sarah Myers, Orv Gingerich, and Kevin Bowman. Please mark your calendar. Reservations will be taken in September.

American Councils for International Education

American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS is now accepting applications for its 2012-2013 Title VIII Grants for Research and Advanced Language Training programs in Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Southeast Europe, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for these awards.

The application deadline for all Title VIII fellowships is October 1, 2011.

Please note that Title VIII Research Scholar Program and Title VIII Combined Research and Language Training Program must begin between June 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013; and must be completed by September 30, 2013. Title VIII Southeast European Language Training Program offers fellowships for Spring 2012 and Summer 2012 only.

Fellowships will be offered in three categories:

*Title VIII Research Scholar Program: Provides full support for three- to nine-month research trips to Russia, Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Southeast Europe, Ukraine, and Moldova. Fellowships include roundtrip international travel, housing and living stipend, visa support, medical insurance, archive access, and logistical support in the field. Open to U.S. graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and faculty. Annual deadline: October 1st.

*Title VIII Combined Research and Language Training Program: Provides full support for research and up to ten academic hours per week of advanced language instruction for three-to-nine months in Russia, Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Southeast Europe, Ukraine, and Moldova. Fellowships include roundtrip international travel, housing and living stipend, tuition, visa support, medical insurance, archive access, and logistical support in the field. Open to U.S. graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and faculty. Annual deadline: October 1st.

*Title VIII Southeast European Language Training Program: Provides fellowships for graduate students, faculty, and scholars to study language for spring 2012 and/or summer 2012 in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia. Open to students at the MA and Ph.D. level, as well as post-doctoral scholars and faculty, who have at least elementary language skills. Deadline: October 1st.

Re-Use Table Moved to Cash Machine Hallway

The Re-use Table previously located on ground floor Christensen Center has been moved to a new location near the cash machine located on the main floor of Christensen Center in the hall approaching the skyway to Urness Hall.

Right now the table is loaded with table top letter holders, book ends and holders, 11" hanging folders, floor signs and movable lettering, metal storage box, wire folder holders and other usable office supplies. If you need office supplies check it out and take what you need.

Enrollment has also placed two metal pamphlet racks in the vending machine room across from the Enrollment counters. Anyone is welcome to take them if they need them. If not claimed in a week or two, the metal will be recycled.

Garage Sale to Help Ana's Trip Abroad

Garage Sale

Garage sale hosted by Ana Vergara. Ana is a day student trying to raise funds for an upcoming Study Abroad trip. Donations were collected from staff on campus and other folks. The sale will take place tomorrow Friday and Saturday in Dinkytown!
