Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Better Buckle Up — And Here's Why

Each year in Minnesota more than half of the motorists killed are not buckled up, resulting in about 200 deaths; another 400 unbelted motorists suffer life-altering injuries.

Minnesota's primary seat belt law requires drivers and all passengers to be buckled up or in the correct child restraint or booster seat. Law enforcement officers will stop and ticket motorists for seat belt violations — including unbelted passengers.

Buckle Up Everybody! Every Seat. Every Time.
