Powerful Conversations on NSSE

Tuesday, November 23, 12:00-1:15, Century Room (Note Room Change)

Augsburg College uses the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) to learn more about how our students perceive their college experience. Student engagement is strongly related to both student success and retention. This series of conversations is designed to help faculty and staff understand how well we engage students, explore how we can leverage our strengths to have a more significant impact, and examine our most important opportunities for improvement. Over the year, we will look at overall results and then look more closely at each of the five factors measured by NSSE. Every academic department should have a representative attend these sessions.

The remaining sessions are scheduled as follows:
November 23, 2010, Century Room – Level of Academic Challenge (Amy Gort)
December 16, 2010, OGC 111 – Active and Collaborative Learning (Velma Lashbrook)

Light refreshments will be served.
RSVP to hedstrom@augsburg.edu

Auggies Give to the Max

Tuesday November 16 was Minnesota’s 2nd Annual Give to the Max Day, a day devoted to raising money for Minnesota non-profit organizations.

Augsburg participated more broadly this year, with a strong increase in participation, tripling the number of donors over 2009. Nearly 100 donors gave more than $15,000 to Augsburg through Give to the Max Day 2010; matching funds offered by an anonymous donors brought the College’s total to nearly $20,000. For 68 of the donors, this was their first gift to Augsburg this year. Twenty donors used Give to the Max Day as an opportunity to make an additional gift the College this year.

All told, more than 42,000 donors gave more than $10,000,000 to Minnesota non-profits through Give to the Max Day 2010.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in Give to the Max Day, as well as to everyone in the campus community who includes the College in their philanthropic plans.

Dogsburg College Working Group: TODAY, November 22

Please join us for the second meeting of the Dogsburg College Working Group. We want to continue our discussion of strategies to change the rules at Augsburg so that dogs will be allowed on campus. Anyone interested in helping, or just hearing what's going on, should attend. Any change in policy needs to address the health and safety concerns of the entire community. It's possible to have a pet-friendly policy that addresses those concerns, but any discussion of a change in policy needs to include opposing views. Whatever your thoughts about dogs on campus, please join us.

Those who have collected signatures on our petitions are asked to return these. If you'd like to sign the petition, or collect signatures, please come to the meeting.

TODAY, November 22, 2010 at 5:00 p.m., in the Christensen Center Fishbowl. For more info, join our facebook page: Dogsburg College.
