Host a Welcome Dinner for New International Students Sept. 3

As part of International Student Orientation, we are looking for Augsburg faculty and staff to host Welcome Dinners in their homes for new international students on Friday, September 3. We are still in need of 4 more hosts.

This is always a highlight of the orientation, and a great opportunity to provide hospitality to our new international students.

Hosts will usually have between 3-5 students, and are responsible for transporting them both ways. Students may be picked up between 5:00-5:30 p.m., and returned to Augsburg whenever dinner is finished, usually around 7:30 p.m.

If you're interested, please contact Jim Trelstad-Porter at porter@augsburg.edu or x.1686. Thanks!

St. Martin's Table to Close in December

After 26 years as a non-profit bookstore and vegetarian café, St. Martin's Table is closing its doors in December 2010. A fixture in the Cedar Riverside neighborhood, The Table has been a hope-filled gathering place for neighborhood patrons, peace and justice advocates and progressive church members in the Twin Cities.

The Table was opened in December 1984 as a ministry of the ecumenical Community of St. Martin, a group of Christians dedicated to peacemaking and nonviolence.

Volunteer servers at St. Martin's restaurant, along with their customers' generosity, have generated over $700,000 of lunchtime tips that have been donated to programs working to alleviate hunger both locally and globally.

Bookstore manager Kathleen Olsen encouraged people to continue to support The Table between now and Christmas. "We hope that our loyal clientele, in addition to those who have never been to The Table, will join us in the upcoming months for good food, good books, and good conversation. Help us celebrate a great 26 years!"

I am selling my textbook for MIS260. I am only selling the textbook and not the CaseGrader (you have to buy that new anyway). This is the book that ALL sections of MIS260 use. It's in very good condition still. I'm hoping to get $65 for it, but you can certainly make an offer. Contact me at gubashk@augsburg.edu or k_gubash@yahoo.com to let me know if you're interested.
