Menand Reading Group

Several faculty and staff are planning to read and discuss the well-received book on higher education by scholar and essayist Louis Menand: The Marketplace of Ideas. All faculty and staff are invited to join us. Here's how:

Copies of Menand's The Marketplace of Ideas are available at the CTL desk. The book is short and should be easy to read over the summer. The stipulation: Taking a copy obligates you to attend at least two of four discussion sessions Doug Green will organize in the fall. For further information, contact Doug Green <green@augsburg.edu>. To get your copy, sign for it with Terry Martin at CTL <martin@augsburg.edu>.

iTerm: Now Open to All Students

Augsburg's innovative course, iTerm: Fate of the Earth 101, is now, by popular demand, OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS! We'd love for you to join us.

Here's the quick overview of what to expect:

Creative course delivery! Guest speakers! Film series! Off-site experiences! Students and professors learn from each other, choosing the books and designing the curriculum together. Final projects address real life problems and are presented to people who can make a difference.

The iTerm counts for 3 out of 4 academic credits for the student's entire semester. Rather than traditional grades, professors provide students with a narrative evaluation.

The iTerm (Integrated Term) offers the following credits:

HIS 101 (Humanities LAF, if needed)
SOC 121 (Social/Behavioral Sciences LAF, if needed)
ENL 101, 111 or 220 (depending on need)

Questions? Contact any of the iTerm professors for more information:
