Farmers Coming, Team Needed

Hi all,

The farmers market is expected to restart Tuesday, July 6th. It might have a sneak peak market the week before if the farmers are ready early. It will run every Tuesday 2-5 until October. Before it starts, I'm looking for two things:

- A small team to help make it amazing - assist with marketing and promotion, help with cooking demonstrations and samples, etc. Very low time commitment, it just would be extremely valuable to have some sharp minds leading the operation. If you would be interested in helping, please email or go here to enter when you can meet so I can arrange a time to come together: https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dFJfX01LenlXT2J6bW5wLWVoTWQxLXc6MQ

- Musicians! I hope to have a little live music each week. If you know how I can connect to student or other musicians, please let me know so we can make a schedule.

- Last big thing I need is customers - mark it in your calendar today!

Alumni Ireland Tour Information Meeting

Join friends from the Augsburg College community in early May 2011 for an in-depth journey through Ireland with Phillip Adamo, associate professor and chair of the History Department, director of Augsburg's medieval studies program and experienced study tour leader. Professor Adamo looks forward to returning to Ireland with alumni and friends to explore centuries of heroic history, including sites dating to 9,000 BC. Experience the intense, rugged beauty of land carved from the sea contrasting with the meticulous gardens of stately castles. Discover the spirit and historic significance of Celtic Christianity, visiting ancient monastic communities where Christianity flourished during the Dark Ages. Celebrate contemporary Irish culture with passion-filled music and food at local pubs.

There will be a tour information meeting on Tuesday, June 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Oren Gateway Center on Augsburg’s campus.

To receive additional updates on the tour and be among the first to receive a tour brochure by late June, contact Alumni Relations, 612-330-1178, alumni@augsburg.edu. Don’t hesitate to be included on the interested list as the alumni tour to Italy last year sold out and had a waiting list.

Keeping Track of Auggies

Hot Off the Press-Doree/Arett Math Article Appears

Danielle Arett (Augsburg '00) and Suzanne Dorée's paper "Coloring and counting on the Hanoi graphs'' appears in the June 2010 issue of Mathematics Magazine, a leading journal of expository mathematics. The work grew out of a NSF funded research experience for undergraduates (REU) that Danielle attended at the University of Oregon in 1999 and her continuing undergraduate research project with Professor Dorée. Danielle had previously won an award for her poster on the project at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in January 2000.

Contractors I'd Like to Recommend

I'm just finishing off a pretty substantial project at my house, and have had some amazing assistance. I'd like to take a second to put a plug in for all the dependable, thorough, reasonable, and kind folks who I've hired to make it all happen. All are licensed, and most of them were also highly recommended to me by other friends:

Tom Wholney, electrician - 1-612-396-0918
Steve Carlyle, mechanical/heating - 763-286-1898
Steve Johnson, plumbing - 612-250-4351
Jeremy Burma, drywall/plaster - jburma@hotmail.com

I also have an unlicensed plumber that I loved working with, email if you need his contact information.

Similarly, I have a good friend who's a stay at home dad car mechanic who I highly recommend: David Jesci - 952-270-5030
