Protest BP's Inadequate Response to the Oil Spill

Date:
Monday, May 31, 2010
Time:
10:30am - 11:30am
Location:
90th and Penn (at the intersection), Bloomington MN
Description

There have been protests in major cities across the US, now it's the Twin Cities' turn!!

The BP oil spill has already surpassed the Exxon Valdez spill in damage to surrounding ecosystems and coastal communities, but BP continues to refuse the help of the EPA in conducting a thorough cleanup.

They admit to giving inaccurate estimates of the amount of oil and gas they have spilled, and have denied access to scientists who wish to assess the extent of the spill.

Meanwhile, Congress is debating what amounts to a bailout of BP, capping the amount they will have to pay for damages. We will be gathering to protest the bailout and calling for BP to accept full financial responsibility.

NOTE: We are not protesting the independent owners of the BP station across the street from our protest, but the actions of the CEO of the company that provides their oil. We will be working with the owner of the BP station to make sure this message is clear.

Please spread the word!
