Teaching and Learning

Finals Week, May and Summer in the Writing Lab

The Augsburg College Writing Lab will maintain its regular walk-in hours through Wednesday, April 28. The Lab will be open for WEC and grad students in May, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5-7 PM, starting on May 4. The Lab will be open for all summer, WEC, and grad students on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 5-7 PM, through the end of SS II, August 11. The Lab in located on the street level of Lindell Library. If you have questions, please contact Kathryn Swanson, x1010.

Lindell Library Open Until 1 a.m.

For late-night finals studying, Lindell Library will be open until 1 a.m. now through Wednesday, April 28. We'll see you in the library!

Hours are always available from the "Hours" link on the Lindell Library web site: www.augsburg.edu/library

Library resources are also available 24/7 from that website.

Faculty Scholarship Display

Faculty,

The Center for Teaching and Learning will be having a Faculty scholarship display at the Faculty Recognition Luncheon on Thursday, April 29 and you are invited to participate. The purpose of this display is to highlight the work of Augsburg Faculty in their field. The display will be in the East Commons beginning at 11:45 AM.

If you have an item to display such as a published paper, article, book, playbill, or other work, please drop it off to the CTL desk in the link level of the Library by noon, Monday, April 26th. If you have any questions, please email Terry Martin at martin@augsburg.edu.

Sabo Center Featured at Community Time

Come to Community Time next Tuesday at 3:45 in East Commons to dine over coffee and treats with fellow staff, faculty, and administration, and this month, to learn about the new Sabo Center for Citizenship and Learning. Sabo Center staff and faculty will give a short presentation on how the new center is structured and what it does.

Payroll E-Mail

New Contact for Payroll and Benefits Questions

In an attempt to improve communication with the Augsburg Community and be able to answer questions in a timelier manner, we have designated a separate email address to send payroll and benefits inquiries to. This email address is payroll@augsburg.edu and can be used effective immediately. All students,staff and faculty are welcomed to sell back unwanted books to the bookstore. Next week we will be offering half back on titles we are reusing. All sellers must present an Augsburg ID to the bookstore.

Supervisors of Student Workers For Summer

Supervisors of student workers:

All student workers, returning and new, who work in the summer must have an updated New Hire Form completed for summer employment. These must be turned in to Human Resources before students begin working in your office over the summer. Please submit them to Human Resources by April 29, 2010 to ensure they are entered for summer employment beginning May 2, 2010. The form is available on the Human Resources public drive under "Student Employment."

Memorial Hall Network Upgrade, Saturday, April 24

IT will upgrade the networking equipment in Memorial Hall on Saturday, April 24, beginning at 7:00am and lasting until Noon. During this time, no network access, including wireless, will be available in Memorial Hall. No other buildings will be affected.

If you have questions or concerns about the networking upgrade, please contact your LFC.

Community Support Agriculture Farm Shares

Each summer, Augsburg becomes a host site for Ploughshare Farm, and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm. For a fixed price paid at the beginning of the season, the farm will deliver a heaping full box of vegetables to campus each week. The variety changes week to week, but expect 8-15 varieties of fantastic, sustainably grown vegetables.

AGRE Challenge TODAY

It's BRIDGE-BUILDING (or testing) TIME!

We have 6 teams competing with their unique popsicle-stick bridges for a grand prize of $150! Come out to Murphy Square starting at 3pm today and cheer on your favorite bridge-building-bunch. There will be food to grill, liquid nitrogen ice cream and sno-cones to enjoy, and prizes for all!
