Facilities Management Customer Service Survey

Approximately 18 months ago, the Facilities Management Department put out a survey in an effort to improve customer service in our department. We are, once again, posting this short (5-10 minute) survey to get current input from faculty and staff regarding the state of our departmental services. This survey will help us gauge areas that are still of concern to the Augsburg community and areas in which we may have improved.

To complete the survey, please go to the Inside Augsburg page on the Augsburg website and log in. Then, click the Facilities Customer Survey link located under the ‘More News’ section. You may respond anytime between Monday, April 19th and Friday, April 23rd.

Thank you for your time and input!

Scheduled Electrical Maintenance

Facilities Management will be completing required maintenance activities on the electrical service(s)for Christensen Center, Old Main, Mortensen Hall and Urness Hall during the week of May 17th. While this work is being completed, electrical power will need to be interrupted to these facilities on the following schedule:
Monday 5/17 - Christensen Center and Old Main will be without power.
Tuesday 5/18 - Mortensen Hall will be without power.
Wednesday 5/19 - No power interruptions.
Thursday 5/20 - Christensen Center, Old Main, Mortensen Hall and Urness Hall will all be without power.
Friday 5/21 – No power interruptions. All work should be complete.

All of these power interruptions are scheduled to take place starting at 7:00 A.M. and ending at 4:00 P.M. on the corresponding day. While the power is off, the buildings can not be occupied, so staff will need to accommodate that in their work schedule. Please use the following as your guide [prepared by Augsburg HR] when making alternate arrangements:

"Division VPs should work with their managers to determine which of the affected employees could work from another location. Any employees who can work from another location on campus or from home will be expected to do so. Employees who can not work from another location for the day of the power outage will be paid for their regular work hours. Employees who could work but choose not to, will be expected to use vacation leave for that day. Employees should work with their supervisor/manager to determine how the power outage should be handled for their particular situation."

Thanks for your cooperation!
Dennis Stuckey
Maintenance Manager

• Specialist Jill Goodrich leading woodland wildflower walks (scheduled for 2, 3 and 4 pm), teaching visitors to spot spring beauties, trillium, hepatica, wood anemone, yellow trout lilly, Dutchman’s breeches and other spring ephemerals.
• Other fun activities for kids of all ages, including horse drawn wagon rides

All programs are held out of doors, and walking on natural terrain of light difficulty is required. Visitors should plan to spend 2-3 hours to take in all of the activities. In addition to the above programs and activities, the local vendor market in the Visitor Center will be open during the entire afternoon. Books for Somalia

Somalia has been without peace in the past two decades and you have to think about how this is effecting the younger generation. Aside of the Somalis who have fled for peace and a opportunity for education, the ones left behind need all the help they can get to make sure that they get a good sound education. Books for Somalia is aiming to send all the books we can collect to send to our brothers and sisters in need of them. Please donate any books that you do not use anymore, it would be helpful for the other person receiving them. Novels, textbooks, childhood books any book will help the ones struggling for education.

Waxbaro(Learn Something), Books for Africa and Augsburg Muslim Student Organization(MSA) are collaborating to get the BOOKS to SOMALIA.

Come to Christensen Center -College Center lobby from 10am-1pm and drop off the books you are donating.

The Augsburg athletic department comes together to hold a formal awards gala to honor the achievement of Auggie student-athletes, with the third annual Auggie Awards ceremony, to be held at Si Melby Hall TONIGHT (Monday 4/19).

The Auggie Awards ceremony is a formal-attire event, open to student-athletes, Augsburg athletics staff and special guests. A pre-ceremony reception, complete with a "Maroon Carpet," will begin at 6 p.m. at Si Melby Hall, with the awards ceremony to follow at 7:30 p.m. The ceremony is styled after major awards ceremonies, such as the Oscars and ESPYs, complete with video highlights, music and more. A dessert reception will follow the awards.

There will be several special awards presented during the ceremony. Team awards will be the Men's and Women's Outstanding Teams of the Year, as well as the Men's and Women's Most Improved Teams of the Year and the Academic Team of the Year. Individual awards will include the Men's and Women's Rookies of the Year, the Men's and Women's Outstanding Athletes of the Year and the Men's and Women's Honor Athlete Awards (the highest honor given to senior student-athletes). Student-athletes with the highest grade-point average will also be honored, and recipients of the Joyce Pfaff and Ed Saugestad Academic Awards will be honored.

Award candidates were determined by Augsburg athletics staff, and a preliminary vote of Augsburg athletics staff narrowed the initial candidates to four finalists in each individual category. A second vote of the finalists was held by the Augsburg athletics staff, along with members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), to determine the winners in each category.
