Crime Alert: Armed Robbery on South 6th Street – near walkway to St. Kate’s University and Riverside Park

This morning at approximately 6:10 a.m. a female, who is not affiliated with the University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview, was robbed at gunpoint just after exiting her car that was parked on South 6th Street. The robbery occurred off-campus, but very close to the Riverside Hospital campus. The victim described the suspects as two black males with thin builds, wearing long dark coats and ski masks. She gave them her belongings and they fled towards the vicinity of Riverside Park.

Minneapolis Police are investigating this off-campus robbery. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Minneapolis Police Department Tipline at 612-692-8477, reference case # MP-10-43270.

We encourage you to take personal precautions and remember the following:

- When threatened with a weapon, it's best not to resist. Your personal safety is more important than a lost wallet or cell phone.

- Always be aware of your surroundings.

- Walk in well lit areas and don't walk alone.

- Carry minimal amounts of valuables.

- Keep written records of valuables, including model and serial numbers, in a safe place.

- Document information about the suspect for police (i.e. clothing descriptions, facial features, piercing's or tattoos, speech, etc.)

Minneapolis City Street Parking Restriction

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday Feb 11th, parking will be prohibited on the even sides of non-snow emergency streets in Minneapolis until April 1st or until snow conditions change and the restriction is lifted.

Minneapolis officials say the winter parking restrictions are necessary because snowbanks are encroaching so far into roads that emergency vehicles could struggle to get through.

If you plan to park on the city streets please visit the city of Minneapolis web site for more resources, including "street look-up" maps of the city with highlighted odd/even sides of streets for your area.

At www.augsburg.edu/dps you can also find a campus map highlighting the restricted parking areas on campus.
